They improved the gameplay quite a bit in 2. 1 is a pretty old game and may or may not run properly on your system =]

That's an odd thing to say, Zedd. Why wouldn't 1 run properly? It's not THAT old that it won't run properly on a system, if anything it'll run a bit smoother because it has more resources to hog...

Man, it seems we have had more threads concerning the problems with B&W2 then any other game. Problems with installation, BSOD, crash to desktop, graphical anomolies, ransacking of villages and knocking a Timmy or two down a well.
Have they patched any of these issues? I have not played 2, but I would hesitate to recommend that game to anyone until I knew if it were more stable.
I did play B&W1 and was excited for the first two hours before growing more and more bored with the game. Setiments shared by quite a few others on this board.
Personally, I would recommend stating what you are looking for in a game and letting us fire off some better suggestions. If you are deadset on playing a B&W game I would have to point you to 1 due to the stability. It may be boring, but at least you can play. If they have fixed the problems with 2, it would probably be a better option, but check first.

What kind of system do you have?
When it's all said and done, B&W2 is a better game IMO. Was not supported by EA or LH well and could've been a much better experience if it were.
The latest patch doesn't really fix the hardware issues.
If you have a nice system, I would recommend B&W2 most definitely.

I remember the first Black and White.. when it was relesaed it was FULL of bugs. When i got it, it ran fine. But i remember looking on several B&W forums and there were soo many posts with people having problems. Looks like the second one is suffering the same fate.
