Hi. I recently bought a new computer :D: (Athlon 64 with SSE3 support 1GB RAM (DDR 400) ASUS Extreme 6600 TD(PciExpress 256MB, Samsung DVD Reader 16x) and its a great difference with my old one(Celeron 500, voodoo3(16mb), 128MB 133), SO IM VERY OUTDATED WHEN IT COMES TO GAMES. :doa:

I need recommendations for new games to buy.(remember new games for me are games newer than five years ago since i couldnt run these before).

Iwould like to hear things like: genre, good graphics/sound/story, etc, etc...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well to start things off, what were some of your favorite games on your old computer? That will probably help people point you in the right direction.

Another way to see what is out there is to check out the Top Games (http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?type=top_rated&platform=5&page_type=games) list on gamespot. It lists all the recent games that they gave good review scores to.

F.E.A.R. - Amazing shooter... Good story, good graphics, awesome physics... I really don't think I've ever had so much fun killing people before this game.

Rome: Total War - One of my all-time favorites... You get real time strategy and turned based all in one package - and they're seamlessly and wonderfully put together... Nothing quite like winning the decisive battle to put you at the top of the board.

Half Life 2 - A must play... Groundbreaking physics, cinematic quality story-telling, sweet graphics, arguably one of the best games of the last few years...

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - When it comes out :D:

Other recoomendations: Call of Duty 2, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, Knights of the Old Republic II, Full Spectrum Warrior, Doom 3

Welcome to our forums. What kind of games do you like? Adventure, first person shooter, strategy, etc.

I like adventure and strategy games, so I would recommend Syberia I and II and Age of Empires II (haven't played III yet).

Well if you are looking for something similar to MGS you should definately pick up some of the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell games.

FPS: Halo
FPS: Unreal Tournament 2k4
FPS: Doom 3
FPS: Half-Life 2

Can you tell which genre I like?
All above are great and have good graphics and sound.
The last two will test your system the most graphically.

UT2004 is a good choice, as is F.E.A.R....

And if you're looking for someting completely different, TrackMania: Sunrise is a blast. There's even a (legal) free version of TrackMania out called TrackMania: Nations (http://www.trackmanianations.com/indexUk.php) if you want. Both games will, with their settings pushed up, make your PC beg for mercy. :crash: Not even I can run eiter one with the settings absolutely maxed. I also like Need For Speed: Most Wanted, but it's a bit crummy at times. :/

As to older games, I like Alpha Centauri, the Diablo series and Grim Fandango a lot. (If you liked Fandango, also try Psychonauts; it's a more recent game from the same person, and it's brilliant.)
