~15% will not meet the hype and will be major letdowns
~5% will actually meet or beat expectations and we will all celebrate the fantastic year it was for PC Gaming...

But hey, at least that 5% is still more games than the XBox 360... (runs and hides from the 360 fanbois too busy with microcharges and Bejeweled to notice).

Nosferatu (free standalone)
Description : pits vampires against slayers in a dark, Gothic setting.

Why it's good
-It's free
-Features an wide variety of weapons.
-It's graphics are the best of both worlds : they're good, but not exactly next gen, so you won't have a problem running it.
-It's got dual wielding.
-Two very distinct sides to play as.
-RPG system with improvable skills.
-Excellent production values.
-Weapon attachments.
-Flexible bullet penetrations system.

In general, I'de have to say that Nosferatu looks to out-do many commercial games.
Supreme Commander
Description: This game is the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation, a game widely regarded as the best RTS of all time. It walks in TAs footsteps, adding many innovations, such as enormous maps. It also appears to have done many other aspects very well (such as interface) which is saying something these days.
Why it's good
-Huge maps.
-4 distinct races.
-Hundreds of units and structures.
-Colossal units (which can even carry other units!)
-newtonian physics model calculates the trajectory of projectiles as they move through the air, taking into account the whole game world. In other words, none of that instant hit stuff in games like Star craft.
-Three unique factions with unique and diversified technologies.
-Large scale combat on the greatest scale to date.
-Two resources: mass and energy.
-Avoids the trends of games that are based on hotkey navigation and mouse click contest, macrobuilding, map-resource war, land grab, etc. It’s a game that requires the player to employ actual strategy to win.
-Zoom is not limited to being on top of your units instead you can zoom out to satellite view to employ strategic commands on the battlefield.
-Huge maps that can span four square kilometers of rendered space.
-Multi-click orders - when issuing an attack order, your units respond differently based on the frequency of clicks. Example: (one click) - attack unilaterally, (two clicks) - "all available units attack a single structure but only fire enough to destroy it", (three clicks) - Everyone destroy it immediately!
-Many interesting units, like a mobile shield generator (think Episode 1 gungan battle scene ; ;) )
-Buildings can be linked together for increased production.
-Each Dot in satellite view = 1 formation. Formations can range from small, to massive scale. (i.e. 5, 50, 500+)

STALKER
Description: STALKER takes place in an alternate post apocalyptic version of the Chernobyl disaster. You go throughout the land in search of the secret.

Think the premise sounds a bit dry? Yeah well, so did I until I saw the videos... ;)

-Enormous arsenal of 40 weapons, each a secondary firing mode.
-The ability to upgrade your weapons and equipment, via trading with other characters in the world. Sounds neat, huh?
-Completely open 50 KM^2 environment.
-Non scripted AI yields a different game play experience.
-Your actions influence the persistent game world.
-Absolute freedom of movement, with no loading times whatsoever.
-Dynamic day and night system as well as weather, each of which impacts gameplay.
-Excellent graphics, courtesy of an impressiveDX9 renderer.

Etnernal Silence : Finally a sci -fi mod! ES is a very innovative mod that has combines th best of Homeworld with Battlefront 2, with large scale space combat and the ability to tka e combat into each of the ful size space ships in FPS mode!

Crysis

Enemy Territory Quake Wars
Description: This is the sequel to the marvelous game Enemy Territory.

Mostly I'm looking forward to it because it's one of the few sci fi games and it's got huge levels.
Enemy in Sight: big levels, lots of guns, lots of vehicles, what more could you want.
Armed Assault: kind of like Enemy in sight. No official sight (lol) yet.
