So yeah, I'm a little behind the 8Ball on this one, I know.

I finally managed to play Max Payne 2.

Very very impressive, from the slick packaging to the great (realistic, and recognisable) levels - many with a clever hook, characters and storyline.

It ran like silk and looked good doing it, didn't crash once, and was a LOT of fun. My bullet-time-fu is weak, but at least I've become a shootdodge master. Nothing beats shootdodging over a bad guy's head, flipping onto him and pumping him full of lead.

I really liked it. Mature game, with mature themes. Corny as all hell, but very well played (except for some of the Noo Yawk accents, which were worse than horrible!).

I'm pumped for a possible movie - it played and looked like one - down to the character actors who, oddly enough, LOOK like existing movie actors.

Max = Thomas Jayne
Mona = combine Courtney Cox, Minnie Driver and multiply with more hotness
Vlad = Willem Dafoe
Winterson = Glenn Close

Now, if i can somehow make it onto Far Cry...I'll get there!

Vlad comes back in that game? Cool...

I'm totally with you on the Jane = Payne thing, but I'd be surprised to see it happen because the Frank Castle and Max Payne characters are VERY similar. And dan, I think chai was referring to who he would cast in a movie, not necessarily who appears in the second game..

I also enjoyed both Max Payne games, even though they were both somewhat short. It seems to be a good time to catch up on old games while everyone is waiting on Doom III and Half-Life II. You are lucky to have Far Cry to play, yet. I just finished it for the second time, a few days ago, and you are in for a treat. Its a really good game.

I just ordered Call of Duty, although I'm tired of WWII shooters; and I seriously doubt that it will impress me like Far Cry did. I'm surprised that I've reached this point where I don't know what to play next. Maybe I'll get a joystick and try out some of the flight sims, since I'm an airplane nut. Edward.

This thread makes me want to load MP2 up again and play through once more. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Edward... if you truly are an airplane nut, you've gotta pick up MS Flight Sim 2004. It's a truly impressive game from a standpoint of realism and the graphics are damn fine.

Before I had picked the game up I'd read quite a bit about it. Some of what I read was from real world pilots who gave the game a thumbs up. After picking up the game I could see what the raves were about. It's the closest I'll ever come to flying a 757 or A320. But, in all honesty, it's plenty close enough for me! :wink:

Edward - Call of Duty is easily the best WW2 I've played - it flows quite well. The American missions are good, but nothing special. Just wait till you get to the Russian section - some of the best levels I've ever played. Just incredible scale and immersion.
