Codemasters has released a playable demo of Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, offering an opportunity to try out this 3D action role-playing strategy hybrid that is nearing completion at Best Way. This demo contains one mission in which your goal is "to protect your injured commanding officer in the farmhouse from waves of German military. Use any weapon at your disposal to complete your mission."

I can't get it to run on my machine. DirectX, vid drivers, audio, etc are all up to date.

When it installs, my AV (Eset NOD32) spots a virus like activity when the proggy tries to install a dll in the system volume information folder. Also, after trying to install, PestPatrol finds a "bingo online" file in the system volume information folder.

This looks like a great game. But, it won't even initiate -- errors out when I try to start it. If it was the source of the bingo thing, that pisses me off. We have enough worms and trojans to worry about without having then coming in major game demos.

I will follow this game because I want to try it. Meanwhile, Ground Control is pretty sweet. :shades:

Bingo has nothing to do with the demo nor with the install process. No idea where you got that from.

NOD is causing some issues which we are looking into. In the meantime try installing with it turned off...you may have to completely uninstall previous versions of Soldiers

Thanks for the info !!

FYI: You should never attempt to install any game (full or demo) with an anti-virus program running in the background. More often than not, it will corrupt the install.

If you're really worried, simply run your anti-virus check on the downloaded folder(s) or .exe file(s), or even the entire game's disk(s) before installing. But always turn that AV off before attempting to install a game.

Same goes for when you attempt to install most other programs (utilities, photo editors, etc.)
