i am posting back to say i have found a fix for this problem, i thought i would reply to my own question for anyone else with the same problem, since no one replied

first of all go here and download NET framework from microsft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b7adc595-717c-4ef7-817b-bdefd6947019&DisplayLang=en

go to your video card or video chip manufacturer website, you should find Windows XP compatible drivers with OpenGL support there for download.

if you have the same card as me, or ATI go here

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27
