From IGN:
The Hollywood Reporter has a story that Electronics Boutique is in serious trouble for allegedly selling The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King DVDs 10 days before the official May 25 release date.
How mad is Warner Home Video? The company has suspended all home video shipments EB, which has almost 1,000 retail outlets in malls around the country. WHV complained that not only has EB refused to stop selling the titles, its top officials won't step in, either.
"I've been in the video business since 1979, and I have never seen such a blatant violation of street date," Jeff Baker, senior vice president of domestic sales for WHV told The Hollywood Reporter. "We are not going to let them get away with this, and we are discussing the issue with our attorneys to consider every possible option."
WHV learned about it from other retailers, who complained about EB selling the discs early. There had been reports of RotK being available as early as last week on IGN Insider DVD boards, but the Insiders didn't say who the offending retailer was.
* OMG.. :lol2:
I heard about this, but I didn't think that it spread all the way to Warner....
How much of a moron do you have to be, to make this mistake. This is basic "Video Store 101"...... everyone knows that you don't sell movies early,..especially one like LOTR.
:wtf: :lol:
