How many of you

1. Choose a DVD because of its special features

and/or

2. View the DVD's special features

To date, I have not viewed the special features on any of my DVD's. The only thing I really look at when choosing my DVD's is to choose wide screen over full screen.

Don't choose a DVD ever because of it's special features. As to whether or not I watch any of them, it depends on the feature. I like to watch ones on history behind movies. For instance, I watched most of the extra stuff on Blackhawk Down and Pearl Harbor. Features about how movies are made or behind the scenes stuff don't hold any interest for me.

Which BHD DVD did you get? I personally thought BHD's special features were kinda weak, there was some kind of documentary and that was about it. Personally though, I never get DVDs for their special features. I try to watch as many of them as I can (the LoTR DVDs especially) but more often than not it takes me forever to get around to it. Basically I just get movies I like...besides, what other alternative is there? VHS? :p:

I never buy DVD's for the special features, but I do watch them all.

Well, if it's choosing between a cheaper 1-disc edition and a 2-disc edition with lots of special features, then the special features can swing it my way.

Also, if it's a movie I like but was only considering, the special features can swing the purchase.

And yes, I watch them. Special features are cool!

I never watch special features, watching the movie is good enought for me.

I watched all of the special features in the two Lord of the Rings Extended Box sets that I have.

If two copies of the same movie were side by side, one having special features and the other one didn't, I would buy the one with them, even if it cost a few more dollars.

I generally watch them all, but would never make a purchase based on the extras. To me, the movie is what I'm buying. The whole "extra" craze got started because DVD producers needed a value-add gimmick to get people to give up their VCRs more quickly than they otherwise would have.

Seems like eons ago, I was very skeptical about the very promise of movies on a CD. I was of the opinion that the quality of the film would suffer greatly because it wasn't going to be magnetized onto a few hundred yards of tape!

As for special features, I prefer them but I don't look for them.
