Italian scientists have found a matching image of a man’s face and possibly his hands on the back of the Turin shroud, believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, one of the researchers said on Thursday.

The controversy over the Shroud of Turin has always fascinated me.

Hey Paula, Brad here...

I have always been very interested in it also, thanks for the link!

Here's a link to an article I wrote about it, just kind of summarizes things and has some good photos I captured in case you're interested:

Great, thanks for your link Brad. I'm anxious to read it. I usually read or watch on TV anything I see about the Shroud.

Interesting stuff.

But even if the carbon dating of the three separate research groups is wrong, weren't hundreds, if not thousands of people being crucified 2,100 years ago ??

I mean, even if Jesus did walk the earth, he couldn't have been the only tall, long-haired bearded man in the region.

I understand it looks amazingly like Jim Cavieizel.

Pretty interesting link Mara. I'll have to check your article out too Brad. When I was in Turin a few years ago the museum that kept the Shroud was closed, unfortunately. It would've been cool to actually see it.

Well it's not just something they happened upon in an archeological excavation, it's been handled and passed down throughout the centuries and has always been known as Jesus' shroud, although how the French happened upon it and where it was prior to that is still kind of murky at best.

And there are no shrouds that have ever been found that have a mysterious image imprinted onto the cloth by unknown means that look almost exactly like early portraits of Jesus, that also mirror the characteristics of Roman crucifiction of that specific time period, or that have pollen residue from plants exclusive to Jerusalem.

No one will ever prove that it's "thee Shroud," it's the story behind it that's so fascinating to a lot of people, for good reason. We'll never know for sure, but it's the doubt involved that gives people hope and makes them wonder and think, probably always will.

Considering the fact modern science can't crack the case to this day, I find that alone to be incredibly interesting if nothing else.

I find it somewhat difficult to believe it's Christ's actual shroud but how do you explain it's existence? And if it is, where was it for all those years before it came to light? I really like your article Brad, along with all the photos. It's always been an intriguing mystery.
