Here is the box art for Age III:

and the Collectors Edition Specs, which are pretty good in my opinion.

The Age of Empires III Collector's Edition is packed with premium extras that any Age fan would crave. Packaged in an oversized, beautifully embossed box, the Collector's Edition includes an impressive hardbound 210-page "The Art of Empires" book, a "Making of Age of Empires III" DVD with behind-the-scenes video and commentary, the official Age of Empires III soundtrack, a huge (43-in. x 27-in.) full-color poster of concept art painted by Craig Mullins, an exclusive Age III Player's Guide, and a Collector's Edition Game Manual. This amazing collection, from Microsoft and Ensemble Studios, is the perfect reward for all those years Age fans have built and destroyed countless civilizations, and is available now for pre-order for $69.99.

I'm hoping this will re-kindle my interest in computer games. Nothing in several months has caught my interest.

I just wish the AOE series would overhaul combat to be more strategic.

Having the enviroment at your advantage should play a key role, yet in the AOE series (and ron, and many other generic rts games) the actual combat strategy is "meh."

They put you into nothing more then a "flat" feeling world and combat depends almost entirely on "who has unit x to counter y, the person with the most will win."

I wish AOE's combat would evolve to the point of games like the Myth series had or The Total War series has.

From my AoE 2 experience, that was hardly the case. It was a click-fest and the person with the best starting strategy usually took 80% of the games. Being able to ballance your armies and manuver played crucial role when it came to kicking ass.

Yes, i'm saying that combat generally depended not on actual strategy (IE high ground, line of sight, moreale, etc) but who has more of x unit versus y unit against enemy.

True that, which is why I like Cossacks 2 but I wish they stuck with the original formula for the game.

Also, October 25th seems to be official release date for AoE 3 heh
