Help me out fellas, It's been a while since I've upgraded my computer. I've been running a tired GeForce 5700LE for way too long - and I've finally saved enough to upgrade my whole system, AMD64 3800+, Asus A8N-SLI, 2 Gigs of DDR and an MSI 7800GTX, while I'm waiting for good ole NewEgg to deliver I'm looking for the best looking games to pop my new builds cherry on and tweak my settings with but I've gotta admit - I'm way out of touch!
I'm thinking Chronicles of Riddick or HL2, whaddya think?
Then again I could always crank up Wolf3D and eat some dog food, lol. Remember Aardwolf?

Make sure you download the FEAR Demo with that rig - and I agree with Gary - Far Cry is awful purty when you can crank up the details, resolution and FSAA options especially.
Half Life 2 looks nice and runs at high details on even mid-range systems, but there are so many crappy looking textures in the game that it really detracts from it as a whole. Yet there are moments where it really shines.

FarCry! I forgot about that one - I keep hearing good things about it but I've never gotten around to checking it out. It reminds me of a more lush and colorful SOCOM, looks like fun. Thanks Gary and Supa, I'm off to find a good price on it right now and I'll def download the FEAR demo as much as I hate them - Too much like being super hungry and only being allowed to take one bite of a delicious meal (that won't be available for a few more months yet).
Thanks for the direction guys, I always prefer recommendations from fellow gamers and I've not been dissapointed yet.
Z, I looked up Europa Universalis 2 and while not what I had in mind it does look like an excellent strategy game. I tend to stay away from those these days as they can eat up sooo much time, I can't play those for just an hour or two like I can action games. I remember loosing weeks at a time to Civilization back in the day...
I think I'll snag FarCry and Battlefield 2 - any experiences with the latter?

Definately grab Far Cry!
I can reccomend the Chronicles of Riddick as a great game with great graphics. It is basically Doom 3 graphics without the blockiness and makes for a much better play.
I wasn't too impressed by the graphics of HL2, but they are pretty good. I guess I am just a sucker for better textures. The animation and character models are excellent however.
I'll post back if I think of more!
