I'm confused...

Is the game already installed and won't let you play or uninstall? Or is the game directory empty and you can't install it?

Try this... go to your game directory and delete the entire folder with subfolders. Then, go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and attempt to uninstall the game. It should tell you that the files can't be found and ask if you want to remove the game from the list. Say, Yes, and then try to reinstall the game.

If I am interpreting your problem correctly, then this should help. Otherwise, could you be a little more informative (no offense)?

Alright. First installed game last year no problems.
Uninstalled normally a while ago to clear up space. (Battlefield 2 is a space beast)
Attempted reinstall recently with problems. I start setup from cd and it goes to the uninstall process. completes a suspiciously short uninstall process and exits. run the setup again and get the same result. I have updated my video card drivers, rolled back the drivers, reinstalled directx drivers and rolled back those too. I have also gone through the registry and removed all the refrences to rome that I could find. same result. has anyone had a similar problem, and if so how did you fix it?
