Intel Corp., world's largest chip maker, plans to launch it's next generation LGA775 processors on June 21 according to DigiTimes sources at various motherboard makers.
The new processor will use 1066Mhz Front Side Bus and will be based on the next generation desktop architecture, reported DigiTimes. The chips will initially operate on a 800Mhz Front Side Bus. Intel also plans to launch the company's highly awaited 915 series of chipsets.
The new 1066Mhz FSB processors will supposedly have performance equivalent to the current Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors, confirmed DigiTimes sources. The new chip will be carried in the 720 numbered family.
DigiTimes reported that motherboard makers are concerned about the power issues with the Intel processors. The reason for their concern is the current generation Prescott CPU from the chip giant, which consumes over 100W.
