Okay, it's Saturday afternoon, you're watching your favorite sport and you're hungry. What's you favorite sandwich?

Ham, Turkey, and Pastrami with a slice of swiss and american. Mayo on one side, spicy mustard on the other. Slice of red onion and some lettuce, preferably on an onion roll. I call that a "monster" sandwich. You eat that too close to bedtime and you'll dream about monsters all night.

Well I do like that subway turkey bacon melt wrap. I also like a good ol' tuna sandwich (with old bay on it of course)

I like that, it sounds real good. I may have to try this one time.

Yep, a triple decker, stacked club - classic style with turkey breast, lean ham, crispy bacon and two or three cheeses on toast - has always been my single favorite sandwich. A close second is a mountainous, extra thin sliced, extra rare roast beef stacked on a fresh onion roll or poppy seed bun with several mile-high mainstay Kosher deli sandwich masterpieces tied for third.

A few would include the classic Rueben, hot pastrami and swiss on Jewish rye with spicy mustard, corned beef on rye with swiss, an onion bagel with heaps of cream cheese and lox plus an amazing combo I first experienced in Annapolis, Maryland of all places. It is a bagel sandwich with alternating layers of good chopped chicken liver, fresh onion slices and Kosher pastrami so high that you need to eat it in layers. Of course, ALL such deli delights MUST be accompanied by plenty of those extra crispy, whole Kosher dill pickles right out of the barrel.

Four other wonderful specialities I still adore would include:

1 & 2. The classic Maryland crabcake sandwich and the skillet-fried softshell crab sandwich. Both are delicious seasonal favorites around the Chesapeake Bay and are best eaten dockside right off the stern of the buy-boats on a cold autumn afternoon.

3. Loads of succulent roasted or chargrilled lamb and feta cheese served on an authentic Greek roll Souvlaki-style.

4. And last but not least, the HUGE, fresh, chunk lobster salad on an oven baked footlong Greek roll as served in a little seafood lunch counter overlooking the old city docks in Marblelhead, Massachusetts. Way back when I was still a young, single sailor on the racing circuit, they sold for 75 cents.

Cheers, Terry

I bagel smothered with butter. I'm not much of a sandwhich guy.

Italian Sandwich from Publix. Instead of Provolone, I usually take Pepperjack cheese, add a little mayo and spicy mustard.....mhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Club Sandwich or an Italian (Pesto sauce, Mozarella, tomatoes and ham *drool*). I'm having one right now, and I'm really enjoying it too. :):

I love both Shawarma or falafel, but if it came down to choosing one or the other, I'd pick up Falafel any day in the week.

I'm talking about real 20 cents Jordanian Falafel sandwich, not the crap you over pay for in the mall here in the US.

I like a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. A real pick-me-up!

^That is one of my household favourites too. My absolute favourite with Tomato soup is a salmon salad sandwich, but it has to be sockeye salmon.

My favourite stand alone sandwich is: Salami, hot peppers, mozzarella, onion, dill pickle with a very small amount of mayo and pepper, on a sub bun.

Sometimes I love those simple combos too Mara.

An old favorite variation of grilled cheese is an open-face version of whatever good cheese and bread you have with fresh tomato slices and bacon strips broiled together - served gooey and piping hot on a cold winter's day.

In the warmer months, a good, old-fashioned BLT is also very nice.
