If somebody could help me out by tomorrow that would be great because that is when I intend to do the "operation".

Anyway I have a P4 2.4b right now. I want to put this 3.2c in and have hyperthreading enabled. I run windows XP pro so that supports dual CPU's. Ideally I want to do this without wiping my OS install. However, if it comes down to it and I have to do that, what are all the things that need to be saved in order for me to have all the same system settings, shortcuts, desktop layout, that I used to?

Dump the chip in.
Enable Hyperthreading in the BIOS and you should be all set.....it'll prompt you for a reboot after you drop the proc in, and that should be it.

That being said, you know where to reach me if you need to :)

Btw, if the worst happens and it doesn't "just work", you won't have to wipe the current installation to get it enabled. But, it should just work. :)
