Hi guys,
Thx for taking time to help. Is a DVD drive necessary to play The Room? I've only got a CD, but it's the highest speed there is, I think. Can I get by?

As far as I am aware it has been released on DVD only, meaning you will need a new drive to install/play it. However; if you have another computer on a home network (or a friends laptop etc.) that has a DVD drive then you can install it from there and not use the DVD to play.
Otherwise let us know what country you are in and a rough idea of your hardware knowledge/confidence (ie. to change out an optical drive) and we will get back to you.

SH4 is DVD only. It will not work at all in a CD drive.

It really isn't too hard if you (and some people aren't) willing to open up your case and get in there.
The drive will be attached to a few screws on each side and in a cage, undo the screws, unplug the cords, slide the new drive in it's place, put the screws back in, put the plugs back in (they only go one way, a quick look at the shape of the plug will solve that), and reboot.
Of course, if you don't want to get in there, call up a local geek or PC shop and I am sure they can put one in there within a few minutes.

5 minute job max. Donshyoku has said it all really I think. 1-4 screws, 2 wires and oh, the little plastic thing on the back (probably a bright colour) is called a jumper. This needs to be set right but it's only worth talking about if you decide to do it. DVD-drives are so cheap nowadays it's hardly an issue if you decide to we can get you there for your first official upgrade so easily you won't think there is any stopping you. This is a great place to start, seriously.
