a friend is thinking of getting swg. what are your impressions of the game? Also, after looking at the sniper class they seem very overpowered, did they do anything to fix that?

wait a few months, unless he realy wants to try it b/c it isn't too good right now. tehy are working on the expansion and it will hopefully be out soon.

Beta for the expansion won't even start until later this month or next month. So I would expect the space expansion out late summer.

However it is going to be expensive to buy a ship and all that I would assume, so you might want to try now. I think the game is at a great state right now for new players. Most of the bugs are finally worked out, a ton of contect was added since launch. I would be really into it if I didnt burn my self out on it the first 8-9 months. I then quit a month and now I play again, but on test center. That is kinda cool because I get to play with the devs, hardly anybody plays on the server, and I get to see new content early. Since I am a loner in-game, the fact that the towns are naked doesn't bother me one bit. In fact the community is much nicer there I think.

I am just amazed at how long some people stay with the same MMORPGs. But then again, you're talking to someone who has thoroughly replayed Fallout 1 & 2 back-to-back no less than 7 different times, Planesacpe: Torment 3 or 4 times, the whole BG series all the way through at least 4 times, Anachronox, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex thrice apiece as well as Omikron, Vampire: TMR and the IWD series twice each - so far. So who am I to talk?

In my case I think it was a matter of liking the genre but not having the desire/time to "learn" a new MMO at this time. By learn I mean knowing your way around everywhere, knowing who the good guilds are, knowing how to figure out how fast you will be shooting something with a +XXXX Skill modifer and a gun with XX.XX speed.
