View Full Version : Am I the only sports games fan here?

I like playing sports games on my consoles as much as anything I play on the pc. I get a lot of satisfaction out of playing a season, looking at stats, and climbing the standings. My favorite series is NCAA College Football by EA. Running the option is a blast. I have actually incorporated some of the plays into my own playbook for my 8th grade football team.

Actually, I don't mind them, but I've been a little daunted lately. There's way too many things to worry about! My little brother (he's 14) tells me about his NHL 2004 team, and all the stats, training, salary caps and other stuff he has to manage. I remember playing Madden football on my genesis, and the only thing you had to do wa pick a team and play!

Can you tell me a good football or hockey game that doesn't need all those stats taken care of?

I always just play a season and when it comes time to do the career mode/franchise duties I start over. There's ways around all that stuff. Madden and ESPN are both good, but I prefer NCAA College Football because of all the crazy offenses.

I like the NHL games, but I just grew tired of them. Plus, like Chylde, I find them to be to daunting now.

I generally rent one now, play a few games over the weekend, and get my fill that way.

duh! That's a great idea Bruenor. I should just go rent one, or borrow my bro's copy!

I like to play them, wouldn't pay 50 bucks for one though. They are only fun to me when you are playing against a friend.

Top Spin ruled my life for quite a while...
I've eased off the NHL games to some degree:
EA games are far, FFAARRR too easy or grow tiring because there's no variety in the scoring.

The Sega (ESPN) are much better, but for some reason, end up getting boring fast.

I loved FIFA 2004, but would much rather see Winning 11.

Not much of a NFL / MLB / NBA fan.

Dying to get my hands on Toca2 and RalliSport2.

They are fun, but I've never bought one.
