Just got a brand new system from Alienware because my regular,
local custom PC builder was not available this time around.
Here is a link to the main spec page. Mine is an Area 51 Extreme
in Saucer Silver just like the one pictured.

Hey man, I sold by racing sloop and stopped spending an ungodly amount of time and money on that little hobby not too many years ago. So this one costs a lot less and can be done anytime from the comfort of my nice, big leather swivel chair in an air conditioned den just a few feet from a real bathroom and a fully stocked kitchen. Of course, the reduced exercise hurts. But that is just the price we hard core gamers have to make.
Besides, I need a fast, graphically good PC for work and it actually pays for itself many times over every year. But even if it didn't, I'd still have the same system just for gaming.
Cheers, Terry

Terry didn't you just build a 2.53ghz system with a 24in crt right before we went to GMv?
Maybe I got you mixed up with tim, it has been a while.

Yep, I got the monitor a couple of years ago but it still works perfectly. However, the last PC had some problems with cooling / air flow and some other things. It just never worked as well as it should have and it was time for a much bigger HD, a faster CPU / mobo with faster system RAM, a much better 256 MB DDR GPU, a newer sound card and improved CD-RW and DVD as well as an 8xAGP port, USB2 ports, etc. So I decided to go ahead and get a whole new PC sooner than normal.
I still have the old PC and the one before that - a P3 800 with a Voodoo 5 5500 running Win98 SE for legacy gaming. It too still works great and is perfect for all the old GLide titles, original Unreal Engine games and classic DOS adventures. I hope it never dies.
BTW, the old 19" and 21" monitors (a ViewSonic UltraBrite and an NEC flat screen) also still work very well. So if anyone is thinking of getting a new CRT display, all three brands have proven very reliable and long lasting for me. The ViewSonic is an especially good bargain too with super color quality for the low low price and availability almost anywhere online and off. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. But when I saw the extra wide Sony, I just had to have it at any price.
Cheers, Terry
