Typical of a corporate take over. It sucks to see folks lose their jobs, especially when you see the faces on TV and like the people. Only good thing I can see coming from this is maybe finally I'll get the G4 game network on my Tech TV channel on my cable. Right now I don't get G4.

This is very sad news. I was rejoicing so recently that Leo Laporte came back.

I think it's a pretty bone-headed corporate move. I feel so bad for all the people.

I think you'll find a lot of them coming back. Especially Leo, Patrick and a few of the women. It's possible that they'll finally remove that nagging growth named Morgan from Adam Sesslers hip......

I wouldn't miss that Martin fellow either who does that Screwed show.

I hope that the major players get hired back and the shows retain some of their charm.

I think one of the things I enjoyed about the shows was knowing that they broadcast from San Francisco, one of my favorite cities. If these shows are broadcast from LA, I'm afraid it will lose a bit of that charm, at least for me.

At this point, I'm just hoping that there will be some channel like TechTV in the future. It's one of my favorite channels and I've learned a lot of great things and seen some fun uses of technology. I hope that this does change things so that others can watch the channel and enjoy it like I have.

[edit]

Found this great link (http://www.g4tv.com/techtvmerger/) overlaying some of the pertinent information.

Q: Will the two services run independently of each other or be immediately combined?
A: The two channels will merge into one network. In the meantime, both G4 and TechTV will continue to air as independent channels, pending customary regulatory approvals underway.

Q: Where will the network be headquartered?
A: The merged network will be headquartered in Los Angeles.

Programming:

Q: What will a typical programming day look like?
A: The merged network will be the nation's premier 24/7 television network all about video games, technology and the gamer lifestyle. The G4 programming day will showcase many existing G4 and TechTV series such as G4's ICONS; PULSE; JUDGMENT DAY; PLAYERS, and CHEAT! as well as TechTV's ANIME UNLEASHED; X-PLAY; SCREEN SAVERS; FRESH GEAR; and ROBOT WARS. G4 will also premiere new original programming which will be announced at a later date.

Q: How many hours of original programming will the merged network produce?
A: After the networks merge, G4 will air more than 20 series and 800 episodes per year. New programs continue to be in development.

* I'm not responsible for the banner picture at the top of that link. I just saw it. I immediately read the information, not seeing the picture initially. But... what is that? It looks like a girl biting a yellow plush foot. That gives me great confidence in this merger.

.

I never had time to watch a lot of Tech TV but the little I saw was pretty good. It's a shame that corporate mergers often result in a let's-throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater approach or worse, an out-with-the-good, in-with-the-bad attitude.

Cheers, Terry

bah most of the big shots are gonna be back. Its a common practice for companies to fire everyone and just rehire them on the same day even when contract changes.
