From SciFi:

Marvel Studios' Avi Arad told the Comics Continuum Web site that he hopes to have a sequel to The Punisher ready by fall 2005. Star Thomas Jane, who has signed on for three films, and writer/director Jonathan Hensleigh will both be back, the site reported.

Arad also spoke about other Marvel Comics film adaptations, including Elektra and Fantastic Four, both of which are envisioned as PG-13 movies. Elektra began production on May 3 for a Feb. 18, 2005 release; Fantastic Four starts in August for a July 2, 2005, release. Preproduction, meanwhile, has started on Ghost Rider, the site reported.

.

Many of the newer Marvel Comics began after I had already outgrown the medium and moved onto "serious" stuff (a big mistake we adults often make when first trying to establish our independence and prove ourselves as grown-ups). But I sure recall The Fantastic Four and all the characters of that classic Steve Lee and Stan Ditko era. Same goes for all the fine DC Comic originals. They were terrific ideas then and hopefully will continue to make for good movies now.

Cheers, Terry

Elektra as a PG-13?? That sucks. Anyone who has read the comics (the most recent ones at least) knows that elektra is most definitely R-rated material.

Just saw Punisher last night. It was pretty good - nice old school action film. I thought it fit fairly well - Thomas Jane was very good.

And yeah - Elektra as a PG13? Ya gotta be kidding me. Talk about a marketing cop-out. If that isn't pandering to the teen market, I don't know what is - that's already a bad sign.

Fantastic Four sounds excellent - from what I've heard it's following a Silver Age vein - it will look and feel like it's set in the olden days of comics - with more melodrama, dastardly villains and such. This really fits the FF theme very well, since they were never a particularly dark series, and always had a touch of the 'insane science' thing going.
