How do y'all feel about it? Would you be willing to give it a try? How safe from tampering do you feel it would be?

I figure if my credit card/banking info is safe online, my vote would be safe enough. Of course, an election is such a big event (esp. when it's nationwide) that hackers might not be able to restrain themselves...
I'd still be willing to give it a shot, see how it goes.

Sorry but until it is virtually hack proof, this technology should not be adopted as an official form of voting. Closed systems in physical locations that are heavily gaurded in official polling places are iffy enough. But without physical evidence (paper) of the actual voting decisions per individual voter, there is just way too much room for tampering from almost any angle and at almost every point along the process. But even with paper ballots, as we have all seen several times, the results can be tainted.

I wouldn't worry about my vote, but someone elses. I cannot vouch for what kinds of trojans/spyware/virii are on other peoples PC's. These could all be used to exploit the system.
Then I again... I will miss this years vote by 10 days.

We Puerto Ricans can't even vote...
Other methods are at least as vulnerable as a well-secured e-voting scheme. As long as the regular system works, I think we should focus on improving that system.
The plus of easy E-voting is that it might encourage more people to vote.

I can actually vote this year, but I don't know if I'm going to. I have such mixed feelings about everyone that I can't definately choose one way or the other.

You can always write in a major candidate of your choice or just leave that part blank. I know several people who only vote only in state, county and local elections where they think they'll have a better chance of effecting positive change in their area.
But in the end, by voting for whoever you feel is the least harmful, you are helping to negate a vote for the very candidate you oppose the most. So my theory is that the very least you can do is try and stop a really bad person from easily taking office by voting for the next to worst choice.
