The date is here and let the NDA be lifted. There are a ton of reviews on the newest ATI card. One of them can be found here. (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjEx) According to this article it beats Nvidia's newest card and if you have the pc to run it, is definitely the new must have gaming card. You can run all games at their highest setting with all eye candy on.

The Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition goes even further and burns through these games like a hot knife through butter, besting NVIDIA’s 6800Ultra by an easily noticeable real-world margin. If the flagship is what you want, be assured the ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition was the top performer allowing us to play today’s demanding games at higher resolution and quality settings than any 3D graphics accelerator we have ever experienced.
wow I was getting worried there for a sec that ATi was about to lose the battle again. My faith has been renewed =P

Yep, that looks like one smokin' card. Expensive as hell though. Then again, it is essentially the bleeding edge of this technology and the top of their line.

This is also a great time to pick up a 9800 pro. The former "king of the hill" was marked at $227.00 at newegg yesterday. For most folks this card will do the job quite well and only those with the top of the line pc would need the new x800.

PriceGrabber's best price also has the Radeon 9800 Pro for only $198 USD at:

Never used the online vendor (Xtreme Gear) though, so I can not attest to their relibility. But here is a link to their merchant info page:

Looks like ATI will rule the high end once again, and it doesn't have nearly the requirements of the latest Nvidia products.
The only thing over the long term which may help Nvidia is the fact that final drivers have not been released for the 6800 (I've always wondered why people even bothered publishing reviews and test results based on beta drivers) and how much Nvidia works together with developers to institute full Pixel Shader 3.0 support. If Nvidia can use their influence with developers (and they have a lot, much more than ATI) to get them to use PS3.0 to it's fullest potential, we may see opposite results, since the new ATI product has no Pixel Shader 3.0 support.
As of right now, it's a great time to jump on the "older" generation of vid cards.

If I still had my older PC as the primary gaming system, I'd jump all over that Radeon 9800 Pro for around $200. That is a great 8xAGP, 128 MB DDR, 256 bit video card that still plays the latest 3D titles very well and it should have some healthy life left in it.
