I've been trying to wrap up some quests in World of Warcraft, specifically near Raven Hill cemetery. I'm getting slaughtered, though (23 level Hunter).
Last night was particularly funny to me. I'm on my way down the long road to the cemetery with resurrection sickness and pet lag. I'd summoned my vulture, but the lag was so bad that it took 10 minutes for him to appear. I should have just stayed where I was.
I got attacked by a spider and quickly was killed on the road. Right near my body, I saw a warrior named Duka (I think that was his name). I hadn't "ghosted" yet, so I started to whisper to his character. He replied by weeping over my body.
I started to make the long trek back from Darkshire to where my body was.
I got there and within a minute, got attacked by the same spider in the same place.
So I'm lying there wondering what to do and who comes running past from the other direction? The same player, Dukas! He chats: "You still here?"
I told him that it happened AGAIN.
Now I make my way a third time. I'm starting to sing Green Day's "Road of Broken Dreams".
This time I'm careful. This time, I weave around other creatures until I can find a relatively crowded crossroads where I can at least get some assistance if attacked.
Well, I found a huge commotion up ahead. I'm ecstatic because there's lots of players just huddled over here! I'm safe! I'm safe!
Uh-oh!
Barrelling at me, lumbering at me is Stitches, one of the boss monsters with a level so high that he has a skull instead of a level. I don't even have the time to target him. I'm dead. Again. And who walks over my prone body? Dukas!
This is getting old! Well, at least I can watch the ensuing battle. A whole mob of players is attacking him and getting slaughtered. Eventually, I resurrect my character, return just in time to join the tail end of the battle and fight from far away. I don't gain anything from the fight, but at least I got to see a big battle from close up.
Next time I'll be taking the long way around! Or maybe I'll go somewhere a little less dangerous!
