It is possible to change the US version of Sacred to a UK version using the Windows registry. Basically, you get all the nifty features of the UK version, including the gore. It also will not get patched like the first gore trick, because as I said, it changes the game to an official UK version.
The detailed instructions are in this thread (http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?p=1698786#post1698786). The required .exe file can be acquired from a link a bit further in the thread.
I just thought I'd point it out. I tried it and it works perfectly. Just remember to download the UK patches instead of the US ones, if you do the trick.
