Mine is Adventure, followed by strategy games.

I'm really lousy at fps and role-playing games!

I like 'em all except sports games...

I'd say I prefer FPS, RPG, Adventure and RTS the most, though.

I like RPG's, FPS and strategy games mostly, but I keep an open mind about other genres. The only sort of games i never play are sports games, like Nova. I'm starting to think he's my clone, he seems to have the same taste in everything else too. :D:

Actually, it's the other way around. You are my clone. Your whole life has been a terrible lie.

Nevermind the fact that you're older than me...

Depends on my mood. Generally though I'll switch between playing First Person Shooters for a few weeks straight to playing Role Playing Games a few weeks straight.

I like the occasional Adventure game thrown in, but they aren't my 'favorite'. Strategy games are one genre that I've not yet dived into. I know I'm missing something by not trying them out. And I'm sure Zedd now wants to beat me with a brick for having said that. While I will no doubt get into some strategy games, I'm determined to finish several RPGs and other Action games first.

I haven't been into sports games since the original Nintendo came out. I do like driving games, but only if I'm sitting next to a person and competing. I haven't gotten back into flight games since my Sega Genesis days, but I do have fond memories of them, so that's another genre I'm likely to get back into some day.

I like them all really. It depends on what's new and available at the time. RPG's FPS, Flight Sim's and Sports games (especially hockey) can be found on my PC at any given time.

FPS games are good but short bursts of high intensity action.

RPG's are a nice, long diversion from the real world.

Flight Sim's and Sports games are great for when you've got 30 to 60 minutes on your hands and want to fill it in with something that you can start and finish in one sitting.

So which one is WoW, RPG or Adventure? I used to be a big FPS gamers but.. Being in my first mmorpg <- just realized probably rpg. I've never been so immersed in a game before. Usually with games I can always find that "edge" like with fps games I can find the edge of the game and it lets me know that I'm in a game. The land is so huge and there really isnt a load time to speak of walking from one land to another.. I am just so impressed. Sorry about the endless WoW.

I'm a FPS junki, I tried out a Adventure game once called "The Longest Journy" and I was so bored I thought I was going to slit my wrists
I thought it would appeal to me more because I was a huge fan of the "Tomb Raider" series but it just didn't click for me. Maybe theres another Adventure game that I may like better, maybe.

In the following order....

RPG's......nothing like 'em. When done right no other genre can compare.

Strategy......Games like Warcraft 3 and Age of Mythology are a great mix of challenge and fun.

Sims.....no, I'm not talking about the game named Sims. I'm taking about games like Zoo Tycoon and Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Adventure.....Siberia anyone?

FPS......even though I find them much too easy, they are still a fun little diversion.

Everything else I can do without, especially driving and sports games. Bleh!

FPS and Strategy mainly. Don't mind the odd sports game (I do play Pro Evolution Soccer often though) and some management games like Total Club Manager.

Simulations:
Mech/Herc (Mechwarrior/Starsiege)
WW2 Aircraft (Pacific War)
Space (Freespace 1 & 2)

I love a good team-based action/FPS. Desert Combat (http://www.desertcombat.com/), the mod that converts Battlefield 1942 to all modern-day weapons and vehicles, is my current favorite.

I'm still a Starcraft junkie, too, though. No other RTS compares, IMO.

I'd be more of an RPG fan if I could find titles that didn't depend upon the occult, reward amorality, or both. So far, nothing I've tried fits the bill.

MMO's and FPS for me. The trend for me in the last 2 years has been play an MMO until I start to get bored, then switch to all the FPS games that came out at that time.

Strategy games are OK but I only like to play them over the LAN.

Well, usually I would say FPS, followed by RPG and RTS, I'm going to say MMO right now.

Having checked my total played time in WoW the last time I logged on and realizing that I have played close to 170 hours already and I am still nowhere near bored. That is by far the most I have ever played any game, at any time, on any platform. By far the best leap into a new genre I have ever made.

RPGs for me. I love them much like I love good books :):

Next would probably be FPS games, then followed by Action/Adventure, then Action, then Adventure

The only times that I play sports games are on my consoles, and mainly with friends. Racing games are about the only exception to that (except that I do play those on console).

I'm not a big fan of RTS games, although I do own all of the Red Alert series, plus StarCraft. But they don't hold my interest for long, for some reason.

I love them all, but FPS's are for me. More specifically, war FPS's. ;)

I would have to say FPS, Space Sim and RPG in that order. The problem being the relative lack of Space Sims.

MMOGs then RPGs. I like some FPS, but haven't seen anything interesting enough to hold my interest for long.

I never play sports game, on any platform, and I'm not at all interested in survival horror. I don't mind a few strategy games, like WC3 and Civ, but that's about it.

If you haven't played Freespace 2 that'd be the game to get.
Probably THE Best Space sim ever.
It's a 1999 game and considered a classic.
It usually goes for an average of $75 and as high as $95.
If you can get it for $20 that's a steal.

Freespace 1 is pretty good too.

I wholheartedly agree. THE best space sim, and one of the THE best games, period.

I actually missed FS2 but did play FS1. I'd love to FS2 now but won't pay the stupid high rerelease price for it.

If you mean by "rerelease" the company rereleasing it at that price - they didn't.
It's just that the original copies are hard to find.
On Amazon.com the used price (last time I checked) was $95.

I paid $55 for a new unopened box on eBay.

I'll let you in on a little secret............
if you don't mind getting the game without the box and without the printed manual
you can buy the 3 CD game with the manual on the CD (which I hate) for $15 HERE (http://www.schoolpop.com/cgi/product_search.cgi?prodcat=0&search_terms=freespace%202)
They may still have copies available.

On eBay the above goes for around $30.

Generally, I prefer
RPG first, Strategy second, Adventure 3rd, FPS 4th, Everything else 5th.

But, my true preferred genre is story based game play. A game with a good story and decent gameplay between story feeds is my favorite type of game. I'll choose good story over a particular genre type.

Thats why I'm not much for games like Civilization or Doom, where you really are just playing for the gameplay. Also why MMORPGs never really grabbed me.
