I am unable to move on to the next level in CoD (I've just secured the bridge)because I keep getting the following error message:

"Error: Hunk_AllocateTempMemory: failed on 522939 needs 5611"

Does anyone know what this is and what I can do to fix it, please?

Regards

That error is telling you a routine in the game failed memory allocation. From the message it's not able to allocate a block big enough.

It can be caused my many, many things. If you're not up to date on the patches, do so. Another option is to re-install the game (sometimes files get corrupted). If the problem still exists, you might try the CoD boards.

I'm sorry to sound thick but I'm quite new to this.
Where do I get a patch from and how do I update?
If I reinstall the game will I lose the "saves" I've made and have to start the game all over again from the beginning?
what are CoD Boards?

I bet you're thinking ... "Why on earth did I respond to this moron?" Sorry.
I'd really appreciate your help.

No, I'm not thinking that at all, I'm wondering where the hell the Fed Ex guy is with my Harmony remote...but that's another story...

You can find patches right here at your very own 3dGamers web site (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/callofduty/downloads/)

I would start w/ the patches first.

Save games are generally in a saves or save games folder in the main folder for the game itself. When you reinstall a game, it won't erase those normally, but you can always copy those to a safe location and replace them after you've re-installed the game. :)

Edit: Looks like Gen beat me to the punch! Guess you get two responses for the price of one!! :shades:

Download it here. (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/callofduty/downloads/) Save it to your hardrive. Double click on the file and it will install.

Normally the answer is "no" but I do not know specifically with this game. Maybe someone else can answer definitively?

what are CoD Boards?

CoD boards are forums set up specifically to discuss this game. There are a bunch of them. Go to Google and do a search for Call of Duty Forums.

I bet you're thinking ... "Why on earth did I respond to this moron?" Sorry.

Don't worry. No problem. That's why the forums are here. To help each other and learn something new every day. Good luck!
