Well I promised pics and I was a little late but here they are. Wires are all very messy because the speakers are not in permanent locations yet. I tried them out last night and I liked them a lot. I got PC speakers mainly because I didnt need the power or size of regular HT speakers in my bedroom.

Those are logitech z-5300's. They are 280 watts, 5.1, and THX Certified. They are in-between the Z-680's and the Z-640's. They only ran 140 bucks and I figured the z680's were not worth the price to me since this was a tiny setup. These speakers had more than enough power with the volume up half of the way and volume on the PC at 70%

cool how is the windows desktop and text showing up on that tv?

Text (assuming you mean reading things like webpages) is crystal clear in progressive scan mode, but hard to read in interlaced mode. Since my TV only supports 480P and 1080i I have to turn it down to 480p when I want to read a web page or something. But I dont do much of that since my computer is 5 feet away.
If you had a TV that supported 720P you could set your resolution to that and you would be able to read text fine. You can still read text with it interlaced but you sorta have to know what you are looking for. Like if I am trying to browse to a folder, I could find it but if I had to read this post on there in an interlaced resolution, I probably couldn't. Atleast that is how it is with my TV.

How is the Antec case? Did you put any extra noise dampening in there?
Ojnod
April 15th, 2004, 07:46 pm
Nah no noise dampening, it is pretty quiet right now. I am thinking about getting a zalman heatspreader for the video card, that is the loudest thing in there right now, but even that isnt bad. I can't hear it over this PC unless I put my ear up to it.

With the speakers - any hassles about using the volume knob?
One reason why I'm looking at going for 680s or Creative Megaworks for my setup isn't the power, but the fact I have a remote control.
I hate getting up to adjust the volume.

I usually have my keyboard with me at all times. It is wireless and has volume controls along with other media controls like pause, play, fast forward etc... I do plan on getting a remote though.

Donjo I know you documented a lot of the steps involved in creating that. If you want to gather all of the steps together and post it in the reference vault, we can do that.

Yea I have a full write-up that I did for my graduation project but it is on my other hard drive. I have to plug that sucker into something and grab that and a few other things off of it.

heh that is my bedroom :p Hey 17 year olds are supposed to be messy aren't they?
But yea once I get stuff setup for good I will clean things up, the speakers are going to get mounted on the wall soon once I make some longer cables and I will probably bundle all the cables behind the HTPC up.
