Ok i have a good computer and everything and rarely have problems with games or anything for that matter. I have played Rome: Total War for 2 weeks now, no problems rised. Today i went on to my Campaign game ive been playing the last few days and my screen has this akward semi-transparent fluttering for the bottom half of the screen, on campaign map and on battle map, i even tried starting a new game, custom battle, etc. Closign all background problems and all that. I recently updated my video drivers since Half-Life 2 requested it though im not sure if thats the problem because im a Computer dummy in most degrees when it comes to technical things.

Plz help me so i can once again slaughter the fools of the battlegrounds of Ancient Rome without a terribly annoying flutter!!! :D:

What do you mean Half-Life 2 requested it? Did this started happening after you updated the drivers? If so, that might be your problem =]

What video card are you using?
nVidia www.nvidia.com
ATi www.ati.com

if you have one of those, go to their website and download latest drivers they have for your operating system.

Before installing them, it is best suggested to uninstall your current ones. Easy was to do this is through Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Make sure everything is removed including any control centers for the card before installing new drivers. Sometimes overwriting can cause problems.

thank you, you are right in all of those assumptions so far. I forgot to uninstall my drivers before updating them last time. This time i uninstalled the "nvidia drivers" as it said in add/remove programs in control panel. I went to nvidea site and i clicked on graphics drivers. then it gave me 3 options on the step 2 box..i dont know which one to choose.

i have a geforce mx 420 it think...its 4somethingoranother. Im going to pickt he one that says (Geforce and TNT2) because its teh only one that said geforce in it. Plz get back to me anyways with an answer to this in-case it doesnt work. Thank you very much again for your time and help. :):

Well I havent had an nvidia card for a while so I'm not sure about their latest driver installers. But choose the one closest to your card. Generally all geforce/tnt cards use the same driver so pick that one from the options. If its something like Geforce GO... thats for the laptops I think. And the 3rd options might be something for workstation cards.

When I installed HL2, it said my drivers need to be updated, but I did not do an update. have a ti4400, and had no problem playing HL2 with my current drivers. I use an older set of nvidia drivers ver 5.2.1.6.
You may want to go back to the other drivers as another option.

Just a thought.

If you have your card over-clocked, bring it down a few notches, it worked for me
