According to this report (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21113&page=1&pp=15) on the HL2 forums HL2 will be released late this summer. It's coming out of an interview Gabe Newell did with a german gaming magazine. What struck me most about it though was that Gabe Newell admitted that the delays were caused by bad scheduling, rather than the code theft (not that that's a big surprise ).

We'll see whether it's as revolutionary as they promised when it gets released, I guess. With all the drama surrounding HL2 it's no longer on my must buy list. When it's good I'll buy it, when it isn't I won't, and I won't regret it for a second.

Careful guys... you're skirting rather close to one of those taboo subjects here at 3DG. I'd hate to have to... you know:

There are several reports in the British press that the leaked compiled code is actually on sale in some parts of Russia - presented as being the full game.

Valve need to clamp down on such activities.

I've heard that the Striders will possibly be driveable vehicles in HL2 ... Jeez! If you can play those things online then it's gonna be a great summer :):

I'm so loyal to the people who work in the PC gaming community that I even pay for marginally fun, little, time-wasting shareware puzzle games. But I do try out as many official game demos as possible, read all the full reviews and qualified player feedback, wait for the important patches and patiently stand by for as long as it takes to filter-out ALL the crappy / buggy titles. This simple method of discerning consumerism has virtually eliminated all the big hassles and disappointments while saving me hundreds of wasted / frustrating hours and hard-earned dollars.

Cheers, Terry

Software piracy and statements that can be condoned as supporting software piracy are a no-no. Everyone needs to familiarize themselves with the forum policies, particularly #3. Let's channel this discussion in another direction.
