Anyone try out the Hitman: Contracts Demo? (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/hitman3/#filelist)
I was just wondering if it is worth giving it a spin.

After aimlessly wandering about the Siberia level it puts you in, trying out the commands, weapons, sneaking, etc... I'm calling no joy on this one. Granted, I've never been a particularly huge fan of the series - I bought the first one, but became frustrated and gave up - but I'm definitely saving my $40.
The problem with the premise behind the franchise is that it's a novelty act. I don't care enough about story behind the Hitman to feel compelled to actually complete his objectives.

Its not the best game but it has a good blend of action and stealth. Its solid, stable and quite polished. The demo is definately good for some fun as long as you dont take it too seriously.

I loved Hitman 2 but not sure how much different Contracts is than the 2nd.
The first Hitman was woeful and I didn't bother even picking it up.
I will probably pick this one up as a result of the reviews and feedback I've read since it's basically just an extension of the 2nd. I like the suspense involved in the games a lot, no other game gives me that feeling, none.

I liked Hitman 2 but I'm not really interested in Contracts. I'll pass.

I bought Hitman, tried the demo for Hitman 2 and didn't like it. ... I've just tried the Hitman Contracts demo and despite it's graphical niceties ... I am still not keen on it.
As soon as your cover gets blown, which can be pretty random ... the whole level is blown and descends into a fruitless gun fight which you'll nearly always lose. :doa:

The demo is free... If you have any interest in the Hitman series it's worth trying. Besides, how do we know what you line in gaming?
I personally bought Contracts about a week ago and have progressed to the third mission. I've played both HMI and HMII the entire way. Hitman III seems to be good so far.
I do agree with the large flaw that it is hard to maintain cover. I had one mission where a guard walked by me three times without blinking and suddenly he caught on I wasn't who I seemed to be... the problem was that I did nothing to provoke the attack or clue him in. I wasn't messing around with anything. It's pretty imbalanced in that fashion but until Thief III hits the racks...

FPS, RPG and Sports for the most part are my favorites. I also like the flight sims, whether they are a war based flight sim such as Combat Simulator or a realistic flight sim such as MSFS 2004. The only gaming genre I have a hard time getting into is RTS's. Although from what I have seen of EA's The Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth (http://www.eagames.com/pccd/lotr_bfme/home.jsp) I may just become a fan of RTS as well. I watched some video of how EA has built emotion into the in-game characters based on what is going on in the environment around them. It's pretty amazing stuff. Equally as amazing as some of the recent advances in graphics we have seen with releases like Fry Cry.

I tried d/l'ing it the other day, but it didn't work. I'm d/l'ing right now. It DOES like frighteningly similar to Hitman 2 though.

It runs like a pig! It doesn't even look very good.

You need a brand-new top of the range computer if you wanted to get the most out of hitman! I've got 2.1Ghz, nVidia nForce, 512ddr Ram, 32mb graphics and it goes really slow when all the graphics are aup full. It still goes slow when I put most things down a little.
I didn't like the game either, it was really hard, even in the easiest mode! I din't like the fact that you get objectives which you have to complete and you have to complete all of them. It makes the game really 'linear'

I get about 10 fps regardless of everything. :(

Cronus, turn off post process effects. You should see a major jump in performance. I has the same problem.

I'll try. 10 fps for something that looks like Max Payne (the original) was ridiculous.
