Right now I'm running a barrowed WinXP Home Edition, turns out I can't use it because it came with a friends Laptop.
So I went out and bought my own XP Home Edition, it's an OEM product so it came with a pretty much useless thin booklet.
My question is, since i'm new to the XP format, when I install my new XP OS will it Reformat my HDD and start fresh automatically or is there a way to manually Reformat?.
The reason i'm asking all of this is when I installed the barrowed OS it was on a new HDD(40gig), in the process of installing the OS it gave a choice of Formating 2 gigs or 35gigs(I think that was the sizes it offered), and of coarse I choose the small size  , so when I had finnished installing Windows I only had less than a Gig of HDD space left.
So I inserted the OS disk again and re-installed Windows, now I have a C drive with 1.99 gigs of space and a F drive with 35 gigs of space. Now when I install this new XP OS I dont want to end up with a G drive, in effect having 3 different drives on my HDD.
I want to only have 1 drive(C) on my HDD, will installing this new OS clean this up?

You'll want to boot from the Windows CD.

You'll select to install a "fresh" copy of Windows.

When you get to the part of set up where you select the partition, there is an option to delete partitions.

When you do that, it ask you to confirm deletion, rinse lather and repeat for each partition you whish to rid yourself of.

After that is done, it will return and ask you to create a partition(s) for your OS to lvie on. You may create a new partition(s) of any size up to 99% of your disk size (it always holds ~8mb).

Make sense? I'm heavily, heavily, jet lagged so tough if it doesn't. :P
