Could we have a house warming party soon??? Would it be asking too much to open up the bar??? Please?? We have a lot of newcomers who I'm sure would like to sample the delights of your establishment.
Thanks

No problem, peoples.
I've got an exam tonight for my wine course. But after that I'll get the place spruced up.
Our chef's been working on some new recipes. :)

I'll bet I still have the original restaurant and bar review first published in the then fledgling GF Gazette for Bridie O'Chai's on a disk somewhere. It describes several classic dishes served-up to the hungry inagural netizens who frequented that now well-known establishment.
Ah yes, here is the actual hand-coded HTML article text that first announced the birth of Kalbrecht:

Congratulations to Chai Lim proprietor of Bridie O’Chai’s Pub at 101 Hard Drive. He is the proud new father of a strapping boy named Kalbrecht. Oddly, Kal was born fully-grown and has already begun helping his father around the pub. But due to the extraordinary size of this infant, we are also saddened to report that the mother did not survive the childbirth. Memorial services for the dearly departed Constance Lim will be held at the Glenfraggle Funeral Home as soon as arrangements can be made. Please join us in wishing the family well and extending our deepest sympathies to them in this time of mourning.

And here's the old newspaper review:

If you're in the mood for an authentic Atul'i pub with some of the most sumptuous food this side of the cyber pond, do we have the place for you! It's Bridie O'Chai's at 101 Hard Drive right across from the old market square just one block off our beautiful, new city dock.

Chai Lim and his son Kalbrecht operate their rustic establishment the old fashioned way ~ with an easy smile, a ready handshake and that personal touch lacking in so many newer bars and eateries these days. The pub simply oozes old-world charm with its hand painted portraits of famous patrons and tall ships. Adding to the authentic feeling are blown glass yards of ale and thick, frothy mugs of the world's best brews. But there is also a surprisingly good selection of fine wines, aperitifs and one of the most impressive arrays of rare single malts, ports, cognacs and armagnacs we've ever seen.

The cozy bar area is on the ground floor near a roaring fireplace and caters to a regular crowd of friendly revelers who are as quick with a story of great adventures as they are humorous anecdotes. There are hand carved chess sets and backgammon boards, championship quality darts and never a shortage of ample competition. Drinks are generous and the service always comes with a smile.

But bring your appetite to Bridie O'Chai's too because the food is wonderfully fresh, wholesomely delicious and served in hearty portions. The menu ranges from simple sandwiches, soups and salads available downstairs in the great room or al fresco overlooking the docks during lunch to more ambitious culinary creations presented in an elegant, candlelit dining room on the second floor in the evenings.

One of our favorite dishes is Chai's Cyber Sea Platter. It comes on a large serving dish brimming with salty freshness like exotic emerald oysters, Molyneux Mussels and Clams Carmack from the CeeNet coastal region to great blue lobster tails and Mario Fish filets from the northern seas. All are delivered straight from the Memory Bay byboats daily and still have the aroma of fresh ocean spray that casts a heady perfume over the entire mouthwatering affair.

For the landlubber in you, there is also a wide variety of spit-roasted specialties that would rival the best lodges in the west. Wild dragon's tail steaks, braised thigh of ogre dripping with woodsy goodness and thick, juicy rack of sham chops just to mention a few. From exotic to reassuringly familiar the nightly bill o' fare at Bridie O'Chai's is sure to please every palate.

On the weekends, there is also a great groaning board adorned with fresh fruits and vegetables of the digital world, oven baked flopovers, delectable soups and cheeses plus fish, fowl and meats of almost every kind. And Sunday Brunch offers everything from expertly prepared golden eagle omelets and crispy cyber fries to mile-high slapjacks with fresh Bungieberries and syrup to Eggs Romero smothered in bubbling Nettysburg sauce.

So whatever you're in the mood for morning, noon or night, come to Bridie O'Chai's Pub & Grille ~ where conversation and good times flow as freely as the drinks and the food is always delicious, plentiful and very affordable!

HOURS: Around the clock, around the world every day and every night
PRICES: Whatever you've got is more than enough all the time
Just for old time's sake and since there are still a few old Glenfragglers in this new community, here is a copy of the very first personal profile short story lead-in I wrote for Chai's character in Glenfraggle. He and many other members had individual profile pages for their online avatars, which were little by little being melding into a sprawling plot in an overarcing tale that grew from some very funny (at least to some of us) forum discussions on the old Gamespot boards. But the related posts quickly dominated the PC game forums there and we were asked to start our own offshoot forum and web site - so we did. Over the next several months, this evolved into a whole make believe world with a deep history, world, regional and city maps, illustrations, unique races, our own news gazette, own own national flag and even the first few of what were intended to be an ever-expanding set of personalized satellite web sites.
Cheers, Terry

"So much time, so little to do..." muttered Glenfraggle’s most famous bartender as he sat outside his bar on a quiet Tuesday.

The warming rays of the sun peeked through openings in the distant clouds as they drifted lazily across the late morning sky. “Hmmm… the streets are quiet today. Not many people around.” Chai noted nonchalantly.

About that time, the Sheriff walked by, heading towards a suspected spam attack. They nodded to each other. “It's a lazy day. Too lazy to talk, even with old friends.” Chai thought to himself.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a strong gust of wind ripped through the streets, blowing Chai's apron into his face as he leaned back in his chair. With a shudder from the sudden chill, he glanced over toward the city docks as a burst of leaves fluttered past his nose tauntingly while they flew by on their way inside the opened pub door.

Chai muttered another barely audible curse, “Damn leaves… now I’ll have to sweep up again before I open!”

But before he could even rise to fetch the broom, the wind stiffened and the sky darkened to an inky blackness right before his eyes. He quickly stood up and looked to the west where the wind had come from. The temperature seemed to plummet from balmy to frigid within a split second.

“Something”, Chai thought, “was just not right.”

Then, as he had seen so many times before, strange inexplicable lights began to flicker all around the old castle-like toy factory high upon the hill just outside of town... red, blue...green...purple. A wisp of smoke meandered straight up from the chimneys that rose above the factory like ominous sentries. The flag in the Town Square flapped around in the high wind like freshly caught fish floundering desperately in a net.

Chai shook his head and shuddered, “The Toy Maker… again!”

He knew from long experience not to question the strange goings on atop that hill so he shrugged and tried to wipe the whole incident from his mind. But before he did, he made a mental note to be sure and buy one of The Toy Maker's new inventions when it came out on Christmas for his young niece, who lived in Nettysburg.

Stretching momentarily, Chai sauntered back into the bar, searching lazily for the broom to chase away those pesky errant leaves.

“So much time. So little to do…”
