Secret Service Probes Boy's Art Depicting Bush As Devil

POSTED: 10:37 a.m. EDT April 26, 2004

PROSSER, Wash. -- One drawing showed President George W. Bush's head on a stick. Another depicted Bush as a devil launching a missile.

The drawings by a 15-year-old boy in Prosser were enough to prompt some questions from the Secret Service.

Agents questioned the teen after being called by police. The boy's art teacher told school officials about the drawings, and they called police.

The boy was not arrested. The school district has taken disciplinary action but refused to say what it was.

Secret Service takes perceived threats to the President seriously, always. The head on the stick thing would be perceived as a threat. This is not a Bush thing but a Secret Service thing. I could tell you an interesting story about why you should not allow people access to your e-mail. It also involves children and the Secret Service. Clinton was President at the time.

It's not the Secret Service, or the administration that is to blame here, they should take this stuff seriously, but the school administration that warned the police about it. They should know that this is harmless.

The boy's art teacher told school officials about the drawings, and they called police. I think school officials are worried that they'll be held to blame if anything did happen. Especially after Columbine.

yes its like putting a target on a picture of bush and using it for target practice. "I swear officer I didn't mean to shoot him"

Speaking of being tired of this administration, I'm already tired of the election.

.

I'm not just sick of this administration and the whole current, lame election campaign by both major candidates but at this point, I'm sick of ALL political candidates, ALL election campaigns and ALL government administrations. They ALL suck big time and they just keep getting worse.

Cheers, Terry

Exactly !!

I doubt if the school staff thought the child was on his way to the White House to attack the Pres.

When I read the title of this thread, my immediate answer was.... "same as it's always been".

Case in point, this is a litigation-happy country. If the child did attempt an attack on not just the Pres, but ANYONE, then the victim's family could sue the school for ignoring "clearly violent tendencies" or some other load of crap.

This was definitely a "cover your butt" move by the school. Unfortunate, yes. Necessary, probably.

I agree with Gaim, but I still don't like the Bush adminstration.
BTW If I print a photoshop picture of Bin Ladin captured are they gonna break me a piece of the $25 mil :)

Yeah I tend to agree with Terry and Ed on our government in general...

But I took this as a direct result of things like the Patriot Act that this administration conjured up for all of us so that we can be susceptible to FBI and other intelligence agencies' inquiries any time we step out of line.

I've NEVER heard of anything like this happening before (if you have please document it for me on here if you would) so to say this "has always happened" doesn't really fly with me.

The secret service just doesn't come rushing into a kid's classroom because he drew a bad picture of Bush Jr.

In fact, I think i'm going to draw one myself and start hanging it out on telephone poles around the city and see if anyone comes and questions me. :)

Only in wartime have we done such things in the past. During WW2 we rounded-up a whole lot of perfectly innocent minorities and put them in what amounted to prison camps for the duration - with zero due process of law. Paranoia was running just a little high after Pearl Harbor you know.

We also had a pretty active anti-communist federal government railroad express called the Blacklist headed by Senator McCarthy and there have been other incidences of extreme abuse of power from illegal wire tapping, moles and inside informants to outright assassination squads. The problem is proving it. But rarely if ever has it been so widespread, far reaching and without a formal declaration of war on the domestic front.

As far as posting pics like that around in public goes - don't.

These people have NO sense of humor and they are NOT fooling around.

Cheers, Terry
