I am very interested. I will wait for reviews. I am also interested on World of Warcraft, and I don't want to get both. Unless I hear both are incredible.

I may get City of Heroes in the summer when I have time. If anything, I want it for the announced expansion going to be shown at E3, City of Villians. I've always wanted to be a bad ass

I was moderately interested until I learned that the power to fly requires endurance, and that you have to land before your endurance runs out or else.

Screw that. Superman didn't need endurance! Besides, at $14.99/month, no thanks.

Yeah due to lack of $ at this time I will have to wait...but I'm interested in it definitely. The last time I dumped a bunch of money ($70+ total upfront for SWG) I quit playing the stupid game 1.5 months later.

I also want to read-up more on COH before going after it.

Must not buy any more games...even though Throne & Patriots, City Of Heroes, & Hitman Contracts are either out or are coming out this week....need to finish Far Cry, Painkiller and KOTOR (for the 2nd time) first...I am really bad about this and spend money on games I should wait for.

$15 dollars!? That's waaaaaay to much. I don't think they need $15 just to keep the servers running.

Anyways, I was thinking on getting it, but I prefer getting UT2004 for my summer gaming :):

Uhh guys pretty much all of the recent MMO's are 15 a month. SWG is, Planetside is, Lineage 2 is. The only I can think of that isnt is FFXI which I *think* is 13 or 14.

problem with FFXI is that you're only allowed one character and extra will cost you extra $1 a month =P

Plus, it's not just the server costs that you are paying for. It's also the constant updates and additions. The folks that do all that work do not get their entire salary from the original cost of the game.

Back when I played EQ a lot, I played other games far less than if I were not. MMORPG's are huge time sinks. Playing one almost always means you spend less time with other games. $15 a month while playing EQ is still cheaper than what I would have been spending on 1 or 2 new games per month. I was coming out ahead money-wise.

That was the point I was going to make NotSoFast. When I was into SWG for 10 months I bought 2 games during that time. They were both expansion packs too so they wern't very expensive either. Normally I buy about 4 games a month give or take 1 or 2. If I dont have a lot of money they will be all 10 dollar games, if I have a surplus of cash they will be newer titles. Even if they were all 10 dollar games that is 40 dollars a month, more than double the price of the subscription (I had 2 accounts so that is 30 bucks, but still 40 is more).

Of course not everybody spends money this way, but when you play an MMO, especially if you are really into it (which you have to be if you want to be any good) you probably won't be playing other games.

DAoC is $13.
On a side note, I was referring to games made in the last year or so. I know DAoC has had expansions that came out recently but the original came out like 3 or 4 years ago.

After taking another vacation from DAoC a couple of months ago, I've found I have no desire to re-join, so I'm considering my account permanently canceled.

On the other hand, I recently learned that CoH launched and have been feeling the MMORPG bug biting again. I still have yet to find a SP game worth my $50.

After reading as much info as I can get my hands on - including oodles of word-of-mouth - my wife and I have decided to give it a go. I'm buying my copy this Friday. I'll just pay the monthly fee - provided I make it past the trial month - out of my personal savings. The character creation alone sounds like way too much fun to pass up (grin). I'm especially attracted by the fact that there's no crafting in the game, no loot, and no feeling sub-standard because you have the weakest gear. Every origin, archetype, and powerset has been designed to make any character a valuable asset in any group.

Definitely need to get my wife a new card though. She's using an onboard graphics controller by in Intel, that's sh*tty at best. We're looking at buying her a new GeForce FX5200 PCI (she doesn't have any AGP slots).

Aye. ;)

Just an FYI... it's 3 years old now. It was launched in October 2001.

Wow, just look at the reader review scores:

GSpot reader reviews for COH (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/cityofheroes/readers.html)

18 of them and the lowest legitimate score is 8.9! - the 1.0 is some goof who claims the company double charges everybody.

Finally a "different" MMORPG that at least attempts to break the monotony and cliche garbage I'm so tired of in all the other's.

I'm not a big "superhero" geek by any means but can certainly get into this I think.

....maybe I'll have it before I get home tonight...:P)
