do you know if in general a dj can play a song from a cd that someone brings? if so is there any special format it has to be in?

I once dj'ed a party but I did so from my laptop hooked up to some big ass speaker. many clubs in miami do this instead of the turntable stuff.

Hi Shardos. Dj´s usually play the songs using turntables from different brands, Gemini, Numark, Technics and some others, only a few djs have Tabletop cds like this one..

Or this one...

An average dj uses a good turntable. The world famous djs, like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, use turntables and tabletop cds.

The second picture is one real nice looking turntable. I wonder how much does run at.
We once invited a local DJ to my g/f's party in her uncle's bar. The place had lights, smoke and a killer sound system. The dj used his laptop hoocked up with the speakers and was able to pull off a crazy show. So you don't need a turntable if you're doing some parties and stuff, but if you get into dj seriouslly a turn table is a must.
