PC Zone UK gave the game a 97%

PC Gamer (US version) just now gave it a 98% I forgot the what UK gave it though.... think it was like 97 too.

Just got my copy:

Rating: 98 percent!

Pros - "Everything: Graphics, plot, gameplay. Its what experts have been predicting for this medium"

Lows - "Squadmates sometimes get in your way; low res textures in huge outdoor scenes"
"Valve has forged the framework for the next generation of games, demonstrating what our medium can and should be able to accompolish"

"An exhilarating entertainment that can emotionally move you one moment, kick ******* the next, and keep you immersed the whole time."

That's pretty hefty praise!

Has there ever been another game that achieved similar ratings out of the gate?

I'll reserve my judgements till I play the game.

Didn't PC gamer just give doom 3 a 94 or 95 or something? That was like an 85 in my book. I still go along with gamespots review scores, even though I don't always agree with their site or their review content.

Double woah.

But I too will reserve judgement... with these reviews coming like crazy, it better be DAMN close to release!

PC Gamer is notorious for giving high scores to their "exclusive" reviews (see Doom III). I'm going to wait for GSpot and some others first too.

I think GS has given a few console games a perfect 10.

Im waiting to hear everyons opinions.. although after everyone raving about Doom3, and now all of a sudden everyone says it was the biggest letdown.. bah. If i knew before hand i wouldn't have bought it.. i still havn't installed it yet. As for HL2, i'll be waiting for the rest of the reviews to come in, and once the games released, see what everyone here thinks of it.
