It could be due to bad memory. I recently discovered that as being the culprit on one of our "common" workstations here in the office.

A good article and features a link to Memtest86, one of the most recommended programs for testing bad memory. One of the first things to do when troubleshooting computer errors is to test the memory. We need an article stored in the vault for memory. This thread will likely go into the vault sometime in the future.
