Fzoul already mentioned in another thread, but there's additional info and I figured it's time to start a new thread.
HL2.net (http://www.halflife2.net/) has details from Gabe on packaging details and a brief interview with Chuck Osborn from PC Gamer who has reviewed the game and will apparently be featuring another exculsive review (like they did with Doom 3) of the game.
Like Zedd said, it looks like it's real close...provided the lawsuit from Vivendi doesn't prevent the release.

I tend to think that Vivendi would be insane to prevent the HL2 release, because they also stand to make a crapload of money from the game. But stranger things have happened!

Thanks for link and the news, Mr. N!

Vivendi cant afford to prevent the HL2 release. They seem to have financial problems =P

Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release.

The Steam packages are especially impressive. And with the chance to play CS:Source straight away, these are some exciting deals. Up for a trip to Valve, anyone? While we haven't received word yet on pricing for the Steam packages, more information should be released via Steam in the near future.

I have a coupon for a free copy that came with my 9600XT (10 months ago)

Any ideas when they will be honoring these things?

They already honored mine, to an extent - Steam already recognizes HL2 as being "owned" by me. Plus, It let me into the CS:S beta.

That gold package on Steam is pretty cool, IMO. I think I may go that route after all, I like all the swag!

I'm always the standard edition type of guy, but 6 Cd's, phew, might go for the collector's if it's not too much more.

What is: Half Life:1 source? Anyone know?

I'm with Supa on this one....if it's not too much of a jump, I'll take the Collector's Edition,..and besides...I wouldn't mind having the Original game "Re-vamped".

I am going for the collectors edition just because I like to have a physical disk. I do like the steam philosophy though because you can install with CD's once on one computer, then never do it again. Plus with my massive hair I cannot wear a hat :p:

Half-Life 2 Preload 5 is out now. It adds all the CS:S levels.

I got the voucher which gives me the bronze version. However, I do get a discount to upgrade to silver and gold. I might take silver because I wanna replay through HL using Source engine =P

Thanks, forgot they were doing that. Does anyone know if it's just the original game, or if OF and Blue Shift also?

I'm certainly curious as to what the original game will look like in the new engine? Wow, will definitely have to get that then, ecspecially if the expansions are included (not that I care about Blue Shift).

Thanks for the info Dan. I went to their site and entered my code and downloaded the bundle that was available to me. Just waiting on HL2 now.

PC Gamer UK gave Half Life 2 a nice score of 96% =]

They also gave Rome: Total War a 95% which deserves every bit of it =]

Very cool! I guess that means there's a fully playable version out there... could be very close now!

Not surprising that it got such a high score. With all the hype surrounding the "exclusive first reviews", they couldn't really do anything else but give it a great score. Don't get me wrong, I think HL2 is good enough that it probably deserves that score, but I'm still going to wait for some independant reviews and other gamers opinions. (I'll probably have to, before it's released here.)
