If this is true, VU may possibly hurt themselves in the long run. No one will want to sign any future agreements with them if they are this heavy handed, and there also could be a backlash by the buying public not to buy any games that they market.
VU should be very careful if they want to survive long term.

I read this earlier today as well. I have to admit that HL2 is slipping off my radar screen. I no longer really care if it is released tomorrow, next month, or next year. I'm sure there are other gamers who are getting fed up with the on again, off again release of this game. And with this new situation potentially threatening a release anytime soon, my interest is waning even further.

I'm also beginning to care less and less about HL2. What I do care about, however, is that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines can't be released before HL2 even if it's finished, and I am very much looking forward to that game.

I find it ironic that Vivendi Universal Games was sued by Interplay for failing to perform as contracted and now Vivendi seems to follow in the flawed business steps set forth by Interplay.
Continued foolishness will certainly force Vivendi into the abyss right next to Interplay. I also suspect that Valve would do well to include clauses in their publishing contracts that wouldn't allow a publisher to just sit on a product for months on end at their sole discretion. And also a clause that would allow for Valve to publish their own products should certain conditions occur.
I think about so many of these BAD contractual agreements between various developers and publishers and I'm just amazed that so much common sense is absent from them. Where are they finding these idiot business lawyers and negotiators ?? :wtf:
