Valve released the first DLC for L4D2 earlier today, while it costs money to buy it on the 360 (blame Microsoft), it is a free download for the PC. The Passing comes with some new play modes, but I only played the campaign level, and I was disappointed. Hard to complain about something that was free, but for how much Valve has been trumping the game, I expected more.
Spoilers below, but nothing you shouldn't know already if you followed any previews of the game.
There are three chapters, with the first two taking up the bulk of the game. The last chapter was another pain in the ass mission similar to the one in the mall where you have to hunt for gas tanks and fill up, this time a generator. The AI is still incredibly unhelpful, so best to play with other people. There is a new gun, which was nice, and a new campaign specific special infected (not a boss type infected) which drops health packs, rare, but quite handy when they do show up. You meet up with the survivors from LFD1, with the big shocker, although it was announced some time ago, is one of the original crew is missing. However, nothing is mentioned at all in the game about what happened, and there is simply three people instead of four. So hell, he could be out back enjoying a donut for all we know. The game was never deep in story, just segments to connect you from one campaign to the next, but I expected more when Valve was creating buzz over which one was missing. Oh well. The second chapter is fun and frantic, but overall just an average campaign.
