Hi, I've downloaded and installed the demo of FSW but when I click on the exe the game doesn't start and I get this error:

FSW2.dll si not found!
Error 0x0000007E: impossible to find the specified module

My system
win xp pro sp2
amd 1.4 ghz
640 mb of ram
geforce fx5600xt 256 mb

anyone else had this problem?

thx

Nope, your not the only one. I tried downloading it from three different places and each time it did not install the FSW2.dll file. I hope someone gets that fixed, because I would think that they would want they're demo to work well so that more people would get the game.

Maybe someone could host only this file (FSW2.dll) somewhere :p:

A major screw up on thier part. Releasing a demo that doesn't work!

If they get it fixed let us know. I'd like to give the demo a spin.

BTW... welcome to the forum Witness and Elizabeth. :shades:

I got the demo from Fileplanet and does it load  BUT I get the game going and I go to the MOUT training session and does it work :doa: nope. Why? because the key mapping is poo. It keeps telling me that I must switch teams by using my mouse3 or the TAB key to switch teams. I try this and nothing so I cannot progress any further. I then go to the file to try and manually remap the key. I do this and does it work. Nope. Ive just gone off this game as now it does not get my vote at all

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the forums! I'll transfer this to 3D gamers support and feedback and hope that helps to find a resolution to your problem.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the forums! I'll transfer this to 3D gamers support and feedback and hope that helps to find a resolution to your problem. Really? When?

Anyway, I installed/tried this demo as part of my standard procedure while posting new demos, and it ran fine (and I played the entire tutorial), even on my laptop with its shoddy Mobility Radeon graphics. So the problem a few of you are having must be configuration dependent somehow, and the demo is working OK for many other players. I'm afraid I have no suggestions as to what's causing that though.

well, only thing we could offer is this:

1. Update your video card drivers.
2. Update your sound card drivers.
3. Get the latest DirectX version.
4. Make sure the games minimum system requirements are met.
5. Turn off any anti-virus software in the background.
6. Get the whatever windows updates (just in case, its always good to do so)
7. Install chipset drivers (bit tough depending on your system)

I downloaded it from one of the 3DG mirrors and it installed and ran fine :)

I searched the install directory for "FSW2.dll" but couldn't find it, sorry!

I can't wait for this game to be released!

Hey Witness....are you sure that the .dll...is named FSW..2 ?

Because I am playing the Demo,..and I looked in my install folder, and there is no FSW2 .dll,......but there is an FSW.dll.

So, I just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same file here.

Ok, what's with the foriegn language error message? Do you think that could be related to the problem?

Is it a Foriegn language demo?...or is that part of your Windows language pack?

Just a thought..

Those of you who have the demo installed, do you have the FWS3.dll file in your System32 location ??

Not all .dll files are put in a program's directory upon installation.

do a search here...

C:\WINDOWS\system32

Thats really wierd its chipset dependent. Have you tried formatting your system? Most of the time a good format resolves many issues =]

Lol....that would be a pretty drastic thing for just a Demo, don't ya think?

Been there - done that. :evil3: No use m8, tried all things mentioned here in forums. Nothing works. It seems afterall that this must be a hardware problem. I got AMD 1.33GHz 256 RAM Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro (128) Hope solution will come. Othewise no way this game will be on my buy list.

P.S. I didn't Format just 4 this reason

i was really looking forward to this game
i just bought the entire game
and i am indeed missing an fsw2.dll
yes i do have an AMD cpu
as if it should matter

and yes, i formatted just about a week ago
have up to date drivers on all my stuff
yes i installed directx9.0c

this really sux and is really poor programming/porting on their part, they better fix this fast, patch would be great

i think it's ******** you have to buy a new CPU just to be able to run a game.
who the hell made that up ?

btw, really cool full spectrum warrior site has an easy to contact forum etc.. NOOOOT!!!

This was driving me Nucking Futs for a bit... I tried the demo and I had No Control... I then went and bought the Game when it came out and still had the same Problem... I had constantly emailed thq and even called them and was left on hold till I lost connection... But I finally figured out the problem and I thought it was very ridiculous what was causing it...

I simple pulled out all of my USB peripherals and then started the game and low and behold I had full Control...!!!??? The only USB device I did not pull out was my Logitech mx700 mouse (Pulled out my Printer, Camera, and game pad). I am still saying to myself "WTF?"

Anyway, hope this helps someone else out there with this problem.

Hi I´ve heard that this game doesn´t work with AMD processors. I have AMD and have same problems. If that is true then you shouldn't buy games made or developed by THQ.

ok i bought the full game ans got the same fsw2.dll

i have an AMD 1300
512MB ram
Nvidia GeforceFX 5200 256MB DDR AGP 8X
DVD-+RW dual layer
CDRW

i tried to take the FSW.DLL from CD1 and rename it to FSW2.DLL and replace it in the root game folder, didnt work.
i updated all my components, nothing

i went to my friends house and installed it on his system, he has --
AMD 2500
512MB ram
Geforce4 MX440 64 MB
CDRW

and low and behold it work perfectly.

i took his video card and put it in my system, and still does not work.

i used the support form on THQ's website and their process is 1 make sure you meet the equired specs, the very next option is "are you gettting a FSW2.DLL error?"

so obviouslt they are very aware of the problem, thats not saying whether there will be a fix anytime soon.

i have several industry certifications including A+(hardware and operating system diagnosis and repair) and NET+(implementation and administration of networks)
and in my professional opinion it is a problem related to your MOBO chipset. it seems it is just not compatible with CERTAIN CHIPSETS.

NOT A CPU PROBLEM, most likely, although my friend has a barton core AMD and i have a XP core, so it cant be ruled out but my opinion is the CPU is not the problem.

Aloha,

After a few days I finally got a response back from THQ's technical support. Here's a quote from their e-Mail:

As stated in the minimum system requirements listed on the box, an AMD Athlon XP 1 GHz or Pentium III 1 GHz processor is needed in order to successfully play this game. Unfortunately, you have an unsupported processor. There is nothing you can download or adjust to make the game work. The only option to be able to play the game is to purchase a processor that is supported. See your hardware vender for advice. You may also want to review the minimum requirements listed on the box.

I had to reread this a few times since I have an AMD K7 Athlon 1.36Ghz processor. It seems that the box states (in mighty fine print) AMD Athlon XP 1Ghz (Even though the bloody Athlon XP's come in 1.4Ghz+). Upon further review at AMD's site. There's an architecture difference between the AMD K7 Athlon 1.4Ghz and lower chips and the AMD 1.4Ghz and above, meant to compete with the P-4 Intel line.

Seems that you'll have to upgrade to at least a 400Mhz FSB/Athlon XP processor or better to play.

Cheers,

Da Bathmat
