From IGN:

April 20, 2004 - Larian Studios announced today that the English-language version of Beyond Divinity, the follow-up (though not full sequel -- look for that later) to the successful RPG Divine Divinity, has gone gold. This means, of course, that production on the game is complete, and it will soon be heading to US (and UK) retailers.

"Once again we have delivered a very complex RPG," says Swen Vincke, project leader on Beyond Divinity, "and I want to congratulate my team on successfully finishing this new installment in the Divinity universe. The game turned out a lot bigger than we had originally planned 18 months ago and while I think that that's good news for RPG fans everywhere, it's been a hell of a lot of work for us. I'm curious to see what the reactions of players worldwide will be. As in Divine Divinity, they'll find that there's much more to the game than one would gather at first sight, and it'll be fun watching people discover all the things we've put in there."

I just finished the original game very recently and really hope the follow-up is half as good and half as big. If so, I'll grab it regardless of reviews - most of which were simply not very accurate about the first one.

Also can't wait to learn more about whatever they consider the full sequel to DD. If they actually expand and improve on the first, it will be one heck of a good CRPG by any standards.

Larian studios is already working on the full sequel. The only thing known about it right now is that it will be using a 3D engine.

I also read today that Beyond Divinty will allow NPCs to join your party this time and that they have added some new combat mode options. One will be perfect for real-time, solo hack & slash and the other is set-up for more tactical battles using a party system. Of course, I will develop a full party of diverse characters but either way sounds great to me.

The reviews from Germany have not been too good. They got a very buggy version of the game early.

Here is the only English review I've seen Computer and Video Games (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/reviews/reviews_story.php(que)id=103107(amp)page=1) 77%

But Larian did delay the English version of the game to fix the voice-overs they originally did. Nice to see a company respond to the consumers.

And, the reviews of Divine Divinity were overly harsh, so this may be better than indicated.

Thanks for the link Dwango.

I'll wait for all the other reviews plus some qualified player comments - and of course want to see if there are still any serious bugs in the US version that need patching - before deciding on a full price retail purchase. But I loved the original game and like the changes they made to this one. So it's almost a given that I will be playing Beyond Divinity sometime soon.
