Raise your hand if this comes as a surprise. Mine is not raised.

.

Game-release delays are never, ever surprising or (to me) the least bit upsetting.

Cheers, Terry

Blizzard is notorious for taking as much time as is necessary to release a polished game. I wish all companies would follow their lead.

I came off as sarcastic, and I was, but my point was more inline with your statement Glenn. This is a trademark Blizzard move and was definitely not a surprise, but we always benefit in the end.

Exactly. I am really waiting on Diablo 3. I know it will probably be another year before it's released. We saw gameplay trailers a year ago. It's a long time to wait, but you can go out and buy Blizzard products with complete confidence that it will play correctly out of the box and you will get more than your money's worth. Every single time.

Actually, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've heard the name for years, and I read that it's a real-time strategy game that was obviously wildly popular, but it doesn't sound like my cup of tea; so I really don't know much about it at all.

Playing shooters, and lately, the rpg/shooters, seems to satisfy my gaming habits, but I know there are other worlds of gaming that I am totally unaware of. If any of you folks were heavy into StarCraft I, why don't you explain it to us inexperienced and unaware. Where's the fun, and how do you actually play an rts? Is it exciting, and what skills do you use? I really and truly don't know. Edward.

Really?

Nah, not really. I was just wanting to poke fun at Rob.

I know its a Sic-Fi RTS. That said I have never played the first one.

Ah, kind of thought so, but my sarcasm detector broke a while ago.

Most people I know have at least heard of the game.

Personally, I loved the SP portion of the game. However, when I was 20 years old and repeatedly getting my ass kicked by my then 8 year old brother, I kind of soured on the thing. :p:

Edward - Starcraft is a Blizzard RTS. Years ago it really helped define the fast paced RTS style, especially one involving a number of factions which play quite differently from one another.

Basically it boils down to: collect resources, build a base. Use base to build troops. Use troops to annihilate enemy. Starcraft was very well balanced, in that it rewarded experimenting with different tactics and types of troops, and fast paced collecting and thinking. It also had a great storyline about humanity, aliens, using some incredible CGI animations.

At its basic, anyone who uses a PC can play an RTS - it's mouse driven, with click, double click, drag, drop, right-click etc. It's the speed with which people do this, and cope with changing battlefield conditions, that shows mastery.

Starcraft is also the big name in terms of competitive online gaming, and famous as the one that brought gaming into professionalism and the commercial big time.

Raise your hand if this comes as a surprise. Mine is not raised.

This is the line to preorder, yes?

Oh...ah...okay then.
