Dragon Age: Origins, like the majority of products from BioWare, is about choice. It's also a throwback to the Baldur's Gate games of approximately a decade ago. If you played those, you'll know there's quite a bit to live up to here, so perhaps as we go into how a players' decisions can affect the original fictional game world BioWare created for this multiplatform title, it's a good idea to describe how the game functions in general.

Dragon Age: Origins: Coming Into Focus (PC)

After seeing about half a dozen times in the span of nearly a year, Dragon Age: Origins is just now starting to resemble a game, something I can imagine myself playing. This as opposed to a series of scenarios laced together for a demo. What did it? Probably a host of little things: an interface that seems complete, functional; a demo that focused on a narrow slice of the adventure, as opposed to a bunch of disparate scenarios; and, perhaps most significantly, an outspoken host, namely, lead designer Mike Laidlaw. With the game nearing release, BioWare is more willing to actually talk about how its systems will work.
