I played late into the beta. It was a damn good game if you ask me. Atleast it impressed me the first time.
Seemed like Starcraft + Warcraft + CnC if you ask me (with a little bit of RoN because your guys come in squads)

it seemed like a glorified Warcraft in space game. Not worthy of a full pricetag though. I might get it when it reaches under 30 bucks =]

Everyone seems to be raving about this game. Those that played the beta loved it.

Absolutely awesome game from the initial beta.
Lots of character, incredible sense of scale, great (full 3D) camera, wonderful animation and destruction.
And useful micromanagement that actually made sense.
Maybe it's just because I've always been a fan of WH40k, but this is an RTS game done right.
Preordered the limited edition of this.
note: 3DGamers was slow for me. I got it zippy from www.ausgamers.com

I'll have to try it. I've always loved RTS games and Warhamemr 40k.

I'm impressed by the demo.
I like the squad system. Lets you have big battles, but still maintain control over your units. The control point and critical point system I like as well. It means you can't just turtle up like in other RTS games.
The battles are spectacular. The melee combat is crazy, with blood and guts flying everywhere. I was having so much fun with the assault marines - I'd lure a squad away from the main defense with scouts, then when the dudes where our in the open, my marines would jump in right on top of them and slices them up!
I like the little finishing moves they do on enemies. Its so wicked when a dreadnought grabs a guy, spins him around with blood flying everywhere, then tosses him away like a toy. Cool! Not for the faint-heated. This game is getting a big fat M rating.

Bloodthirster looks crazy huge. Hope they include the other chaos greater deamons. Just hope chaos isn't completely deamon based, we've got just about everything the stupid emperors lackeys got!
Really fun game. Resource Points are a great idea, will help keep the game flowing, allowing one side to end it quickly when the other is clearly doomed.

I'll say one thing bad about it: It takes some serious computing power to run it well.

FINALLY and RTS game where your troops aren't complete retards. I left a squad alone in an open field, and when I came back to it, it was under attack. My guys were smart enough to move a short distance into a crater where they received cover. And when I told a squad with rocket launcher to attack a fortified strategic point, they stopped way out and bombarded it with missiles instead of running in and getting cut down by machine guns. Smart dudes!

You are right on the computing power. I turned everything up to the highest setting at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and 8xAF and I got in the game and I needed to back it down.

Awesome game. First RTS I have really enjoyed in a long time. The game ran great at 800x600 and medium settings on my ti4200. I wish there were more abilities though for the heroes.

Yeah, I wish the heros where more like in WarCraft 3 - lots of spectacular, battle-winning abilities. Although the Force Commander's hammer is funny.

I can't download it.. AusGamers has gone down. The download URL has changed.. blah blah. 3D Gamers is "down for maintanence" and the mirrors are full. The download just doesn't want to work from anywhere. *sigh*

What you need, Dan, is the Beta...
I razed the enemy base with just my Chaos Lord, his marine bodyguards, and 3 Defilers (tanks). And I mean the ENTIRE base, including all the troops.
And if you really want kick-ass, play as the Ork Warboss, or build up to get the largest Chaos unit - the Bloodthirster.
Ohhhh yeah.

Played the Beta, it was pretty good.

So can the choas lord become a Deamon Prince at all?

Nope. Hopefully there'll be an expansion pack with a Chaos campaign taking a aspiring champion all the way to daemon prince. That'd be sweet.

How do I get terminators in the demo? Can you?
Kalbrecht

Not in the demo I think... You need to secure a Relic on the map, and they seem to have disabled those.

I just had a look at the Relic Official forums and i found this thread (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=36247).
After reading through it you'll come across this link (http://www.thegamingunion.co.uk/Forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=002061) which you will need.
These two links are if you want to be able to use the Orks and unlock the advanced units.

That was an awsome link, r8!
I've been playing with orks and terminators in the demo all night (my power came back!).
My favortite part of tonight was when my 10 assault terminators slaughtered an army of about 50 orks.
Those Land Raiders are crazy.

Hell yeah. Took 2 landraiders, 1 with terminators other with assult terminators lead by lord and raised all 3 enemy bases on their own. woooohooooo.

Methinks I'll be getting this game :)
I think it perfectly captures the mood of Warhammer 40k. Doesn't follow the rules of the game, but it captures the "big bloody battles" feel. And the Terminators are just what I thought they should be.
