Professor Layton and the Curious Village was a fantastic game. Mara, not sure if you have a DS or not, but I think you would like it. Professor Layton and his sidekick are much like Sherlock Holmes and a young Watson, and you are sent on a mystery to a place that absolutely loves puzzles. As you progess, you must complete puzzles that range from the easy to the downright brain thumper. Completing the puzzles moves you on to the next part of the well done story.

I've been wanting to get one since I read the review of that game some time ago. It's on my wish list.

The second one has been out in Japan for some time and I am not so patiently waiting for a release here in the states.
