Commandos 3 - how to get the plain...

i´m playing commandos 3, the second stalingrad´s mission... i cannot get in the plain... i´ve killed all the germans... but i don´t know what to do... the general has dissapeared

I've got that game but haven't even finished the very first one yet, let alone given any of the others a try yet. The game was so hard to play that I could hardly kill any Nazis without I or any of my men dying so I felt I had no recourse but to do godmode. I'm not very far into it, either, like maybe only the third or fourth mission where you have to blow up some compound or whatever.
