Well, I have completed HL2 EP2 and I had much fun with it.

I just started TimeShift, I am pretty early on in the game.

I am not too sure about the story, but the graphics are decent and I am intrigued by the concept of slowing down, stopping, and reversing time...that seems to be pretty cool.

Here are a few screenies.

I played through the demo several times when it first came out. I was looking forward to buying a copy until I read the reviews.

Hey, glad to be back at these forums

Well, I am alot further along in TimeShift now, and I must say it is a very nice game.

I am having fun with the controlling time thing and the graphics are quit nice also. I also LOVE the fact that I can quicksave anytime that I wish :p:
It has some pretty cool weapons and there have been some pretty sweet explosions as well.

I am going to go ahead and recommend this game for the people who like the shooter genre.

Here are some more screenshots.

I liked the first demo that came out years ago, then I started following how the Pub was starting over with the game, engine and gameplay..... played the second demo and still liked it......

I'll be getting it no doubt, just got to wait till I get done with some RL things.....

Yep, looks pretty good to me. I guess I need to get the lead out and finish Kane & Lynch, and then Frontlines-Fuel of War, so I can get to it. Kane & Lynch is less than stellar, although I'm having fun with it, but it's not one of those games I can't wait to come home and play, you know? Consequently, I've been going really slow with it. It still feels "clunky," it's got some funky third-person view oddities, and I hate not having a quick-save; but there sure is a lot to shoot at. Heh, heh.

Thanks for the screenshots and impressions. It's nice having someone else blaze the trail on all these shooters, and your advice and comments have been very helpful to me, personally. I'm falling behind, though. Ha! Edward.

Just ran through both the 360 and PC versions of the demo again. To hell with the critics, I've changed my mind. The demo was too much fun for me to not want to play the rest of the game. Taking guns away from bad guys while time is stopped, resuming time to watch them wonder what the hell happened, and then blowing them away at point-blank range, is wicked cool!

The PC version ran fine in terms of frame rates at 1024x768, but since my PC barely meets the minimum system specs in terms of visual quality, I'm going to go ahead and pick up the 360 version for $40 rather than dropping $170 on a new video card and another $20 on the PC version.

I didn't realize there was a 360 version of the demo...
*leaves to download*

Man, I can't wait to get my PC back up to gaming capabilities.

Well, I have completed TimeShift, and i had a really great time playing the game.

The weapons were really cool, especially the crossbow :p:....and I also really loved the quicksave feature, which I must have used hundreds of times!

The graphics were really good as was the feature to manipulate the time, that is what really makes this game. The game also has alot of puzzles, sort of like HL2....I have heard of people saying some of the puzzles are too hard, but I only had trouble with a few of them, and about all are solved with the way you manipulate the time. Maybe a couple of the puzzles were alittle tuff, but I don't hold that against the game for a real downfall to the game.

The only real beef I had with this game was the story, which was kind of hard to follow for me, it may have been me, but I had a hard time following the storyline. With that being said the cutscenes were awsome in the game.

The game is worth playing if you have not already.

Here are the last of my screenshots.

Hey, man. I'm not a PC gamer, but I really like your reviews of games along with real screenshots. your posts has prompted me to join game and rent all the games you recommended, if they're out on console. keep up the good work

Yes, this will be my next game, too, after I finish Frontlines-Fuel of War. I'm about halfway through, and Frontlines is a pretty good game. I'm enjoying it a lot more than Kane & Lynch, and even the lack of a quicksave is not a real problem. It's probably because the game is relatively easy, and I've only died a few times during the whole first half. Even when you die and have to be "re-deployed," you lose very little progress. Even the bad guys you killed stay dead, so it's almost as good as a quicksave.

I'll see how I feel when I'm done, but it's looking like this is one of those games that is good enough to want to play again in the future. There is nothing ground-breaking or even really special, but there are loads of weapons, lots of action, and everything just feels right. Simple shooter fun done right.

If TimeShift is as good, I'll be more than satisfied. Which of the two did you like the best, Gridiron? Thank you one more time for your posts, screenshots, and impressions. Edward.

Thank you for your kind words guys. I am glad that me sharing my experiences with games has helped someone out alittle.

Everyone seems to like different things in games, like graphics, weapons, quicksaves, storyline, length of the game how hard it is and so on....so it is very hard to find a game with "all the right stuff".

As far as which game is better between Frontlines Fuel Of War and Timeshift....I would say those games are very close....I wish I was a multiplayer gamer, because I have heard that Frontlines is a blast and alot of people have switched over to it, from Battlefield 2. I guess MP is just not my thing.

I liked Frontlines for pretty much the same reasons you have said Edward, and even without a quicksave, it seems to work great in that game.

I liked Timeshift, because it was alittle different from the regular shooter, some different weapons and such, and I like that. I just wish I could have followed the story better.....but there is alot of great shooter fun . It may get alittle repetative for some, but I really liked it.

Nice review!
Makes me wish there were more hours in the day, so I could do some more PC gaming. Big time-warp when you get beyond a certain age.. what took you a half-hour to do 20 years back now takes 4 hours!! "Rainy days" are my only option for gaming.

Well, here I am, again, bringing up the rear; but I finally finished TimeShift, myself. As usual, gridiron pegged it pretty well, and I agree with his assessment, completely.

Nice graphics and environments, and especially explosions, and the weapons were super. The crossbow he mentioned was the best I've ever come across, and it was my favorite throughout the whole game. Not only was it a repeater with a large magazine, but it shot explosive bolts on a flat trajectory and had an excellent zoom. Giblets everywhere, and one-shot, one-kill, every time. The shotgun, grenade launcher, assault rifle, and a nifty little machine-pistol that shot incendiary bullets were no slouches, either. The grenades sucked, but you can't have everything.

The game is pretty easy once you get the hang of using the time-shifting abilities of your suit. I tried slugging it out in firefights without using the ability, and it was like playing a game on "extra-hard" difficulty setting. I won a lot of the battles that way, but finally succumbed to using it constantly. It was just too much fun to stop time, plug about five enemies with an exploding crossbow bolt, and then return time to normal and watch them all explode. Heh, heh.

There were quite a few puzzles, as mentioned, but I thought they were easy. Almost all of them required you to learn the workings of the time manipulation ability, but once you figured out what to do, actually doing it usually proved to be very easy. Of course, you all know how much I, and everybody else, it seems, likes a quicksave feature. Like gridiron, I used it a lot, but the game was still of decent length, I thought. I got good mileage out of it, anyway.

That's about all I can add. Excellent, trouble-free, shooter, that looked good and had some nice variations on the theme, and I think it was even better that Frontlines-Fuel of War. Of course I'm partial to sci-fi settings over wartime environments, and they are both pleasant surprises. I was sorry to see them end, so that says something.

Guess I'll do MoH-Airborne next and then Blacksite-Area 51, but I doubt that either will measure up to these last two games. Oh well, saving the world is a tough job, and a good soldier can't be too picky, right? Heh, heh. Edward.
