Morrowind: blank load screens ??

I'd just bought and installed the Morrowind GOTY edtion.

I've noticed that when the game loads a new area, any area (inside or out), that the screen goes blank for that instant. I find this extremely annoying.

When I'd played just the original Morrowind on my older system the screen would merely freeze for an instant while the new area loaded.

Does the blank load screen happen to anyone else ??

Anyone hear of a way to fix it ??

I found this happend after upgrading my Graphics card from rad 7000 to 9600 but it does not seam to affect the game

The more that time passes, the more I'm getting disappointed with ATI's drivers. At this point, I'm getting ready to sell my 9800 and switch to a nVidia product.

I've been using Nvidia cards for years and I don't recall ever having any problems.

Oh, and I'm not a fanboy.
